The second episode of the Radio 4 documentary, The Secret Lives of Carers, was on Radio 4 today.
Rochelle Monte from Home Instead Newcastle amongst other high quality care providers were featured on the show. This was part two of the programme the first episode was aired last week and a number of carers including Rochelle described their negative experience when trying to deliver care in a dignified respectful manner when working in the care sector.
As a result of her previous experiences Rochelle came to Home Instead Senior Care. Rochelle recognised that care can be provided in a dignified manner. At Home Instead Senior Care we deliver high quality consistent care with a minimum of a one hour call with CAREGivers who have been introduced and consistently see the same client. This makes the CAREGiver and the client experience a positive one.
This week’s the programme featured providers who are delivering person centred exemplary care. Rochelle was joined by two of her clients and described how the model of care is delivered. Rochelle describes her new experiences and talks about her very different personal journey since working for Home Instead Senior Care – Newcastle.
One crucial theme throughout the programme was recruitment and how it is crucial to recruit the right CAREGivers. At Home Instead we have a lengthy process we need to ensure we have someone with the right attitude and personality.
Our test is simple would ' Would I send this potential CAREGiver to my own parents? '
