One person in three born today will live to be a hundred years old. In a special series this week, BBC Breakfast is exploring the changing attitudes to old age, and what a society with a growing number of pensioners means for us all.
Some people believe that age is a barrier to employment. At Home Instead we can certainly say that age is no barrier. If you are a genuine caring person who wishes to make a difference you could be a CAREGiver.
Our CAREGivers are crucial and a key part of Home Instead Newcastle. They help us to provide quality care and companionship each year. At Home Instead we have a very clear vision of what living longer should look like. That’s life lived with independence, in the comfort and familiarity of people’s own homes, filled with activity and positivity.
Lorraine Birkett, our CAREGiver, brings joy and sunshine to the life of Ann Booth, a retired nurse, every day. When Lorraine’s son got married, 86-year-old Ann was keen to experience the special occasion – so Lorraine invited her to the wedding. And Lorraine, aged 54, helps Ann stay stylishly dressed too, the pair enjoy regular girlie shopping days. Lorraine said: “I love to give and I love making a difference to people’s lives. My aim is to bring peace and harmony into their homes – along with a smile.”
Join our team of CAREGivers and make a difference we have a number of vacancies.
