Dementia Friends Session - Gosforth Central Middle School

A lovely morning at Gosforth Central Middle School with the year 7 pupils who as part of their curriculum have studying the effects of Dementia. Today all 120 pupils became dementia Friends an initiative that is delivered by Dementia champions who are trained by the Alzheimer’s Society.

The training is part of the ongoing mission to make Gosforth Dementia Friendly. The children were all engaged and genuinely interested. Dementia is a growing health concern everyone who is getting older will have Dementia however as the population gets older there will be more who have the condition.

The chair person of Gosforth dementia Alliance and the founder of slow Shopping and a Dementia Champion was joined by Andrew from Home Instead Newcastle and delivered the awareness session. Well done to Gosforth Central Middle School for encouraging and engaging their pupils in the Dementia Friends Session.
