Alzheimer's Disease Training

Cath and Lyn have recently undertaken additional training at Home Instead National Office and were presented with certificates following the successful completion of the course. Cath and Lyn are now delivering training in relation to Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias in the Newcastle area. The training is accredited by City and Guilds and will be delivered by Cath and Lyn. In the first instance to our staff to further enhance their skills.

We are also planning to deliver workshops to family members of our clients and to anyone who is involved in the care of persons who suffers from this disease.

Our family and friends workshops will follow four different themes

1)      “Alzheimer’s Disease or other Dementias” – This will give participants a good basic understanding of the condition, its symptoms and impact on behaviours.

2)      “ Capturing Life’s Journey” introduces the recording of information about the life of the person and introduction of the Life Journal

3)      “Techniques to Manage Behaviours” – demonstrates how some understanding together with a number of simple techniques can have a very positive impact on the individual and the carer alike.

4)      “Activities to Encourage Engagement” - provides understanding, ideas and techniques to help the family carer engage their loved one.

The training to family members, friends and those who are involved with people with Alzheimer or Dementia can be delivered at our office or at any suitable location throughout Newcastle. This training is free of charge suitable for anyone who comes in to contact with a person with Alzheimer’s whether in a professional or personal level. Call us at our office for dates that we have already arranged.
