Home Instead Dementia Bus Coming to Cornwall Dementia Conference in Wadebridge

We’re delighted to announce that the Home Instead Dementia Bus will be attending the Cornwall Dementia Conference on 15th May at the Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge.

This exciting event is a fantastic opportunity for charities, social enterprises, care companies, carers, and professionals across Mid Cornwall, including St Austell, Fowey, Bodmin, Wadebridge, Padstow and Lostwithiel, to gain a deeper understanding of dementia and how we can better support those living with it. Kernow Health CIC organise the conference.

This important initiative is being delivered in collaboration with our neighbouring Home Instead offices in Tavistock & Tamar Valley and Truro, Falmouth & Redruth.

By working together across the region, we’re able to bring this powerful and immersive experience to more people, helping to raise awareness and improve dementia care across Cornwall and beyond.

What is the Home Instead Dementia Bus?

The Home Instead Dementia Bus is a unique, mobile training experience designed to simulate what it may feel like to live with dementia, helping to improve understanding of dementia care across Cornwall.

Inside the bus, visitors take part in a guided session that recreates sensory changes and everyday challenges often experienced by people living with dementia. This immersive, hands-on experience builds empathy and awareness in a way that traditional dementia training cannot, making it a powerful tool for families, carers and professionals alike.

The Dementia Bus is operated by Training 2 Care, a leading provider of specialist dementia training and the primary training partner for Home Instead Mid Cornwall. Through this partnership, Training 2 Care supports the development of our in-house training team, ensuring our Care Professionals deliver the highest standards of Dementia Care , including St Austell, Bodmin, Wadebridge, Fowey, Padstow and Lostwithiel.

All of our Care Professionals receive comprehensive training at our office in Par Moor, covering essential skills such as moving and positioning, basic life support, and medication support. This strong training foundation allows us to provide outstanding, person-centred care focused on social and emotional wellbeing, as well as more advanced support including specialist dementia care, Personal Care, and palliative care at home.
