Sign the Petition to Save Homecare in the UK

As more people live longer, the number of older people in the UK is steadily increasing, and that means that the number of people who require extra care and support are also increasing. A petition has been set up to influence the government to address the issue of a dwindling funding in this area.

Over one million people in the UK use care support services like Home Instead, and they depend on these services to live a happy and healthy life, yet in recent years the government has put an unnecessary squeeze on the funding to these services.

Unless adequate funding is available, quality homecare is not possible, and a number of people might find themselves with fewer or short visits from their CAREGiver. This area is already chronically underfunded, but if nothing is done, it is predicted that the homecare sector will face a £750 million shortfall in 2016. That is an alarming sum of money, and not only could it mean the difference between an easier life or a more difficult one for some people in the UK, it will also result increased pressure on the NHS.

At Home Instead Senior Care, we see the valuable difference home care makes to the lives of individuals every single day, and we know how important it is that home care providers are able to continue to offer state-funded care for those who need it.

The petition is looking for 100,000 signatures in order to call on the UK government to address this issue of home care funding in the autumn review.

It will only take a minute, and you can show your support by signing the petition here.
