Knitting needles have been clicking in Durham

When Trudi from Home Instead Senior Care in Durham heard about the madcap idea from Innocent Smoothies to knit little woolly hats for smoothie bottles to raise money for Age UK’s Big Knit campaign, she knew they had to help.

The company which provides at-home care services enlisted the help of their contacts in order to knit a total of 103 miniature hats to support Age UK in their 2013 Big Knit campaign.

The campaign is one that sees the community take on the knitting challenge, creating little woolly hats to place on the top of Innocent smoothie bottles. With every hat sold, a donation of 25p from Innocent will go towards Age UK’s ‘Spread the Warmth’ campaign, which is aiming to make winter warmer for 360,000 people by providing information, advice and practical services to help keep older people warm and well in the winter months.

Owner of Home Instead, Trudi Jameson commented, “We specialise in providing care to older people and as such, Age UK is a charity that is extremely close to our hearts. I’m so glad we have been able to make a contribution to this year’s campaign. I must thank Janet, one of our fantastic CAREGivers who made some wonderful creations”
