I’m Laura McDermott, COO at Home Instead. I oversee operations to ensure excellence in care, drive business growth, and support our teams. My focus is on delivering compassionate, person-centred care that truly improves the lives of our clients.

I have worked in the social care sector for 25 years progressing from frontline care into leadership & management. I'm now at Home instead as Group Registered Manager. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and I'm a keen reader & creative writer.

I have worked in the care industry since I was 19 years old, working in a care home and in the community. I enjoy spending time with my daughter, puppy, family, and friends also a huge fan of Nottingham Forest.

I recently joined Home Instead after spending 4 years within the NHS and a Private Health Clinic. I have 2 dogs who I love taking for long walks around local country parks. I love to travel and visit new places!

I enjoy going out and adventuring, having spontaneous trips with my partner. We both love cars so spend a lot of time working on them or going to car shows. I have 2 cats and have a love for animals, gaining a degree in Animal Science at Uni which brought me to Nottingham.

Prior to joining Home Instead as a Care Professional, I worked in a special needs school. I now work in the office, and I am responsible for the training of our Care Professionals. I gain happiness by looking after others and by spending time with friends and family.

Having been with Home Instead for just over 3 years, I wish I had joined this profession many years ago. I have 7 grandchildren, 3 of them live in the USA, the other 4 live much closer to home, also 2 Jack Russell dogs, they all keep me and my husband on our toes.

Everyone we met or dealt with at Home

Instead were helpful, thoughtful and totally focused on making things as good as they could be for my father.
From my point of view, it lifted a weight off my shoulders. I knew that my father was happy, but also any small errands like picking up some milk or a prescription were also sorted without my having to make a 40 mile round trip.
The ‘App’ was hugely helpful as it enabled me to see the report from every visit and could see how my father was that day. It was also a great way to make sure that I had passed over all the information on tasks that needed to be undertaken as they are listed and checked off in the visit report.
