Senior Fraud Protection

Senior Fraud Protection

Between 2012 and 2013, 1 million (2%) of UK adults sent money in reply to unsolicited communications and just under one-half (almost 500,000 people) are believed to have been defrauded as a result, costing UK individuals an estimated £3.5 billion in total. Home Instead Senior Care has partnered with national charity “Think Jessica” to raise awareness of the risks facing older people so that we can do everything we can to prevent these distressing and devastating crimes.

Karina Brown was delighted to run one of a series of local awareness talks at the Mottingham Community and Learning Shop, a community driven centre offering learning opportunities and a range of services for local people. The talk was well attended and was supported by a member of the Metropolitan Police’s Safer Neighbourhood Team and local MP, Bob Neill.

Our awareness talks explain why older people are targeted by scammers, the main types of scams and the techniques used by scammers. We also provide a Senior Fraud Protection Toolkit, which contains helpful information and checklists for you to refer to.

For more information, to book a free awareness talk or to request a toolkit please contact Home Instead Senior Care in Bromley, Chislehurst and Orpington on 020 8658 2535.
