Alan Savage, owner of local care company Home Instead Senior Care, found a rather unique and unusual way to attract attention to the ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ scheme in the Altrincham area this year! Alan took to the streets and made the novel decision to pay for people’s parking in the Hale and Altrincham car parks as a gesture of good will. In return he has been sharing with shoppers the idea of donating a small Christmas gift for older people in the community who may not get a present this year.
Alan has been overwhelmed with the kindness of the residents and shoppers and managed to collect many generous gifts. Beth, a local resident, donated a lovely tin of biscuits and even managed to stop for a photo with Alan!
Alan says, “We are really excited about this scheme, and we are hoping to collect over 400 gifts for the elderly as we did last year. Once we have all the donated gifts, the Home Instead team, with help from the 35th Sale Moor Girl Guides, will arrange to wrap them all and then do the really fun bit and deliver them to older people via the NHS, charities, churches and pharmacists.
“At Home Instead, we provide care to older people in their own homes. Many people graciously donated gifts but also wanted to find out more about being a part-time CAREGiver. These kind of people are exactly what we are looking for, and I am pleased that we have already set up a few interviews!”
We are holding a donation stall at Ashton Village Christmas Market
Saturday, December 6th at 10:00am – 5:00pm
In closing Alan said, “If anyone would like to donate a present or are interested in part-time work as a caregiver then please give us a call or look at our website for the 12 collection points across Altrincham & Sale."
Alan will be out and about in the coming weeks and maybe you will be a lucky shopper and have your parking paid for by Alan!
