Dementia Support in Somerset & North Somerset

Find out what Dementia support services and groups are available in our area!

As part of Home Instead Weston super Mare’s ongoing mission to remain Dementia-Friendly, we regularly offer FREE Dementia Workshops to members of the public and our community. We have local professionals, friends/family of clients, or friends/families who care for their own loved ones with dementia attend. We have always received great feedback about our workshops, and how they prove to be very helpful to the people that attend. We usually hold these workshops around Dementia related awareness days in the calendar, such as Dementia Action Week (May) and/or World Alzheimer’s Day (September).

We also run a Memory Café for individuals living with Dementia and their carers/family members to attend. This runs on the 2nd Monday of every month, 10am – 12:00 at the Hobbs Boat pub in Lympsham. This is a well-established group with many members returning each month, as well as newbies trying out the group to see if it right for them. All are welcome, and there is no need to book. Just show up and see what you think! We have activities, but they are all low key such as puzzles and quizzes, and there is no pressure to join in. Most of the group just love getting to chat to each other!
