Faith Runs Manchester Marathon for Alzheimer's Research
Deeply moved by the effect that Alzheimer’s and dementia has on her clients, Care Professional Faith will be running the 2027 Manchester Marathon for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
“From working at Home Instead, I have had the privilege of supporting and spending time with people living with dementia. Working with clients has given me a real insight into the impact dementia can have on individuals and their families, and how important the right support, care and understanding can be.
That is why this cause is so close to my heart, and I want to challenge myself by taking on my first marathon whilst raising money to support Alzheimer’s society and their work.
I wanted to take on a challenge that would push me physically and mentally, while raising money for a cause that means so much to me.
So, on 18th April 2027, I’ll be running 26.2 miles to help raise awareness and funds for people affected by dementia.”
Faith has recently returned to Home Instead after a three-month sabbatical travelling around the United States and taking part in Camp America. Prior to this, she’s s worked for Home Instead for just over a year.
“The Home Instead team kept me updated whilst I was away, letting me know my client had been asking after me and wondering when I would be coming back to her. I couldn’t believe that she sometimes couldn’t remember her own son, but she remembered me. It made me feel so proud of the impact I had made on her and her life.
My clients feel like they are family to me and I care so much for all of them. I wanted to do something to raise awareness of this disease because it affects everyone, not just the person living with it. The carers that look after them are affected as well as families.
By fundraising, I’m contributing to the hope that one day there’ll be a preventative cure.”
“I’m 19, so this has been the first job I could have hoped for. Even from onboarding, everyone has been so lovely, including the other Care Professionals I’ve shadowed. It feels one big family. Everyone gets on and the office are so welcoming and accommodating. They’re always there for you if you need something.”
