Meet Paddy the Panda: Going the Extra Mile for Local Communities

Meet Paddy the Panda, Home Instead Marlborough & Test Valley's newest recruit, who's collecting travel miles to help support local community groups.

There’s a new face at Home Instead Marlborough & Test Valley, and he’s already preparing to travel quite a few miles for a good cause!

Meet Paddy the Panda, the team’s newest recruit, who has joined the team with a rather unusual job description: accompanying Care Professionals on their journeys and helping turn the miles they travel into financial support for local community groups.

It’s a light-hearted idea with a meaningful purpose, bringing the team together around an initiative designed to give something back to the communities they support every day.

A New Recruit with a Different Kind of Role

Paddy might not be your typical Care Professional, but that didn’t mean he could skip the recruitment process.

Just like the rest of the team, Paddy went through recruitment and onboarding before beginning his new role. Now he’s accompanying Care Professionals on their travels and getting to know the people and places that make up the local community.

From joining team members on their journeys to making appearances at community events, Paddy’s adventures bring a little extra fun to the working day.

Behind his travels, however, is an important goal: supporting local groups through the miles collected along the way.

Turning Everyday Journeys into Community Support

Travelling between visits is a familiar part of life for many Home Instead Care Professionals. Paddy’s challenge puts a new twist on those everyday journeys.

As he travels with different members of the team, his miles are collected and will be converted into pounds to help support local community groups.

It’s a simple idea that connects something the team already does with an opportunity to make a positive contribution beyond their regular care visits.

For Home Instead Marlborough & Test Valley, supporting the community is about more than providing care in people’s homes. Local groups, activities and shared experiences can play an important role in helping older people maintain friendships, enjoy their interests and feel part of the places they call home.

Paddy’s travels offer another way for the team to get involved and celebrate those community connections.

Following Paddy's Adventures

With plenty of journeys ahead, Paddy is set to become a familiar companion to the Home Instead team.

His adventures will take him out and about with Care Professionals, offering opportunities to share the team’s experiences and highlight their involvement in the local community.

We’ll be following his progress as the miles add up and look forward to sharing more about the local groups that will benefit from the initiative.

Going the Extra Mile at Home Instead Marlborough & Test Valley

Behind Paddy’s playful introduction is something important to the team: the belief that small contributions, made together, can have a positive impact.

Our Care Professionals support older adults across Marlborough, Devizes, Pewsey, Andover and surrounding communities, helping people remain independent, enjoy familiar routines and stay connected to the things that matter to them.

Paddy’s challenge is another way to celebrate that connection, while recognising the people and organisations that help make our communities welcoming places to live.

To find out more about our team and the care we provide, visit Home Instead Marlborough & Test Valley.

And keep an eye out for Paddy. He has plenty of miles ahead of him!
