Be a Santa to a Senior: Spreading Holiday Cheer with Home Instead Central Hampshire
We’re partnering with Matilda’s Place and Danemark Court Assisted Living Homes to bring a little festive magic to seniors
Christmas is a time for giving, kindness and bringing people together. However, for many older people, the festive season can also be a lonely and isolating time, particularly for those living alone or without family and friends nearby. At Home Instead Central Hampshire, we believe everyone deserves to feel valued, remembered and cared for at Christmas.
That’s why we’re delighted to be bringing back our Be a Santa to a Senior campaign, supporting residents at Matilda’s Place and Danemark Court Assisted Living Homes. Through this local Christmas gift appeal, we’re inviting our community to help spread festive cheer and make Christmas a little brighter for older people who might otherwise go without a present.
How You Can Help Make Christmas Special for a Senior
Our Be a Santa to a Senior initiative is all about spreading kindness, reducing loneliness and reminding older members of our community that they haven’t been forgotten.
We’re asking local residents, businesses, families and friends across Winchester, Alresford, Eastleigh, Chandler’s Ford and the wider Central Hampshire area to get involved by purchasing a gift from our Amazon Wishlist.
Every gift makes a difference, whether it’s something practical, a comforting treat or an activity to enjoy during the winter months. A small act of kindness can mean so much, particularly to someone who may be experiencing loneliness or spending Christmas without regular visits from loved ones.
If you’re looking for a simple way to give back to your local community this Christmas, taking part in Be a Santa to a Senior is a wonderful place to start.
Christmas Gifts for Older People: Our Amazon Wishlist
We’ve created an Amazon Wishlist filled with thoughtful gifts selected for residents at Matilda’s Place and Danemark Court. From cosy blankets and puzzles to little treats and comforting gifts, every item is intended to bring a little happiness to someone’s Christmas.
You can help by choosing a gift directly from our wishlist and having it delivered to support the campaign.

There’s no pressure to spend a particular amount. Whether you’re able to donate one gift or several, every contribution is appreciated. And if buying a present isn’t possible, sharing our campaign with friends, family or colleagues can help us reach even more generous people in our community.
Supporting Older People and Tackling Loneliness at Christmas
While Christmas is a joyful occasion for many, it can highlight feelings of loneliness and social isolation for older people who have limited contact with family, friends or their wider community.
Loneliness in later life is an important issue all year round, but the festive season can make it particularly noticeable. Regular companionship, meaningful conversations and small gestures of kindness can help older people feel more connected and supported.
Our Be a Santa to a Senior campaign is one of the ways Home Instead Central Hampshire works to make a positive difference in the local community. By coming together to provide Christmas gifts for older people, we can help spread happiness, encourage community connections and show residents that people care.
We’ll be collecting and preparing the gifts before delivering them to Matilda’s Place and Danemark Court in time for Christmas. We hope every present will bring a smile, offer a little festive comfort and remind each recipient that they are an important part of our community.
