From home care to live-in Care with the Else family
Charles and Rene Else have been clients of Home Instead since 2022, but following a stay in hospital for Rene, they decided it was time to change to live-in care.

As they approached their late 90s the Else family decided to explore their care options
Now aged 102 and 96, they realised they needed additional support as Charles as he approached his centenary and to help Rene recuperate after a heart operation and stroke. Initial support involved a small team of Home Instead Care Professionals providing daily morning visits to assist Charles to get up, take his medication and have breakfast, followed by midday calls to cook lunch for them both.
Earlier this year, Rene fell and broke her hip, resulting in several weeks in hospital. On returning home the family decided that both parents needed considerably more support given their age and declining health. They felt that 24-hour support would help them remain safely and independently at home and decided on a live-in care service from Home
Instead.
Since switching over to live-in care, Charles and Rene have been supported by two Care Professionals working on a weekly rota. Rene says:
“Having a consistent team who we got to know, and who got to know us and our routines, was important from the start. Home Instead has adapted around our needs and enabled us to maintain our independence, while allowing our family to visit without the burden of caring for us full-time.”
Our live-in care solutions help older adults stay independent and comfortable in their own home for longer. By choosing Live-in Care, a dedicated Care Professional can offer the ongoing support and companionship needed to enhance your loved one’s quality of life.
