Home Help - Recycling Support

Since the council introduced the new wheelie bin system at the end of 2023, recycling figures have risen dramatically. In 2026 MK Citizen reported that 63.2% of the city households waste had been recycled. This resulted in MK rising 76 places in the nations official recycling chart, from number 83 to 7.
This is amazing news and Milton Keynes residents should be extremely proud.
Sadly though, not everyone has the capacity or ability to be able to manage the recycling process. Some older individuals can find this particularly confusing, or even if they don’t they may not have the mobility to be able to complete this effectively.
As well as all of the other support Home Instead offer we can also provide assistance as part of our home help visits. We assist many of our current clients by managing their weekly bin collections. This may be by sorting the rubbish accordingly or taking the correct bin out on the appropriate day.
