New care business to create 50 jobs

A new service specialising in caring for older people in their own homes has opened its doors this week in Market Harborough and hopes to create 50 new jobs in the area. Home Instead Senior will offer at-home care to elderly clients living across the area and provide a flexible and personal alternative to nursing home care.

For owner Gail Devereux-Bachelor, this exciting new venture is a change from her former career and a labour of love following personal family experiences with both a terminally ill sister and an elderly relative.

Gail picks up the story: “Our 90 year old Auntie required care following yet another fall and a stay in hospital, and we were having such difficulty finding a suitably reliable and high-quality service that at around Christmas time last year, I felt like I had reached the end of my tether. On Boxing Bay, I remember sitting on the lounge floor with my laptop, desperate to find an organisation that could help us all at this difficult time…and that is when I found Home Instead!”

Gail continued to research the company, but it did not take her long to realise this was the right thing for her. She comments: “I have experience running a business as I have worked with my husband running a local decorating company for some time. I am really excited to start this new project of my own and passionate about providing high-quality, personal care to help older people in the local area to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.

“Now I am on the look out for like-minded people to join me on this mission. So if you are a caring and compassionate person who wants to find out more about becoming a caregiver, please don’t hesitate to get in touch”

Gail and her husband have 3 children, but have personal experience of caring too, as they became foster carers back in 1994 for respite and emergency cases. Gail is active in the local community as a member of Glooston WI and has also worked closely with a local church and as a trustee of a local charity supporting a village primary school. In her spare time, Gail enjoys needlework, baking and walking in the countryside.
