Meet David Bassett – Director & Local Resident

Care isn’t just a job to me – it’s my life’s work. I started in the care sector when I was just 16 years old. Today, at 45, I have nearly 30 years of experience behind me, and I’m prouder than ever to lead Home Instead East Hertfordshire & Uttlesford, based right here in Bishop’s Stortford.

I grew up in this town, went to school at Birchwood High, and have been part of the local community my whole life. That means when I say we care for your neighbours, friends and family – I really mean it. For over 15 years, I’ve run this branch with one clear goal: to provide the kind of care I’d want for my own loved ones.

We don’t just deliver tasks – we build relationships. Whether it’s companionship, personal care or specialist dementia support, our team is here to help older people stay safe, happy and independent in the homes and areas they know and love.

Over the years I’ve also been involved in local projects like Stortford One Radio and our annual Be a Santa to a Senior campaign – because looking after our community goes far beyond our working hours.
