At Home Instead Chingford, we believe that outstanding care extends beyond the home and into the heart of the community. That is why we are delighted to announce that our Tottenham Community Café – A Cupful of Memories has been awarded a Haringey Loneliness Awareness Award 2026 in recognition of its positive impact on people living with dementia and their carers.

The award was presented as part of Haringey’s annual Loneliness Awareness Week programme, which celebrates organisations, community groups, and individuals who are helping to tackle loneliness and social isolation through compassion, support, and innovation.

Supporting People Living with Dementia and Their Families

This year’s theme, “Supporting People with Dementia and Their Carers,” highlights the importance of creating opportunities for meaningful social interaction and community engagement.

Our Tottenham Community Café for Memories was recognised for providing a welcoming, dementia-friendly environment where people living with dementia, family members, and carers can come together to connect, share experiences, and build lasting friendships.

The café offers a relaxed and supportive space where attendees can enjoy activities, conversation, refreshments, and companionship. For many families, these regular gatherings provide valuable emotional support and help reduce the isolation that can often accompany a dementia diagnosis.

A Proud Achievement for Home Instead Chingford

The award ceremony took place at Alexandra Palace, bringing together community leaders and organisations committed to improving wellbeing across Haringey.

Home Instead Chingford Directors Nigel Allen and Linda Allen proudly accepted the award from Mayor of Haringey, Dawn Barnes, on behalf of everyone involved in the Tottenham Community Café for Memories.

Receiving this award is a testament to the dedication of our team, volunteers, community partners, and the many families who continue to support and attend the café.
