Dementia affects more than 850,000 people in the UK and the figure is growing at an unprecedented rate.
Following a diagnosis of dementia, families are unsure how they will cope. Fortunately there is lots of support available in Calderdale and Kirklees to help people.
If you live in Calderdale, a good place to start is Calderdale Dementia Hub (link to Homepage – Calderdale Dementia). They offer advice and information for people living with dementia, their carers, family and friends.
The Hub is based at Age UK Calderdale’s Mobility Shop in the Woolshops, Halifax and aim to ensure people within the Calderdale Community have access to a wide range of dementia information and advice and run carer support groups and a group for people with dementia who are willing to share their views or experiences or want to connect with other people living with dementia.
Kirklees Dementia Hub (Kirklees Dementia Hub | Community Links (commlinks.co.uk)) provides the same service for people who live in Huddersfield and the Spen Valley/Cleckheaton area. They are based at the Lion Chambers in Huddersfield, opposite the Railway Station.
