When it comes to work, many of us are seeking that elusive ‘job satisfaction’ and one role that is able to bring that more than any other is those in the care industry.

A career in care can be extremely rewarding and meaningful.  It’s a job that can really make a difference – to individuals, to families and to society as a whole.   If you’re considering a change of job to something that will give you a sense of satisfaction, then take a look at some of the reasons why a role in care might suit you.

Highly competitive pay, incentives and rewards

We understand how hard our Care Professionals work to keep our client’s happy and that deserves to be rewarded.  We pay from £12 an hour and have been recognised as a Real Living Wage employer. You’ll get Double Time for any Bank Holiday that you work. All our employees get 28 days paid holiday per year (pro-rata for part-time staff) and you’ll be included on our company pension scheme.

We like to recognise our Care Professionals in other ways to – we regularly reward those employees who go above and beyond for our clients throughout the year.  You also have access to Home Instead discounts which gives you money off a wide variety of retailers and services.  Want to refer a friend to work for us?  We’ll pay you a bonus for that too when they join our team.

Meaningful work

Sometimes it’s the little things in life that really count.  That feeling of satisfaction when you do something good for someone else.  As a Care Professional, you can go home, knowing that you’ve made a real difference.   It can be a life-changing role, not just for the client but for you too.  That is something that not many other jobs can offer.

Find a work-life balance

Whilst we provide care for our clients on a 24/7 basis, we want to be able to offer our Care Professionals hours that work for your needs.  Part-time hours, alternate weekend working, morning/evening shifts – there are options available to give you a good work-life balance, that can fit around other commitments.

Tired of long commutes?

At Home Instead, its important to us that you don’t spend most of your day travelling – so whilst you’ll be visiting people at home, all of our visiting roles are within local areas so you’ll be close to home. And you’ll get a generous mileage allowance for any travel that you do incur.

We take pride in offering the best possible training for our team whether you’re an experienced carer or you’re brand-new to the role. Through the Home Instead Learning and Development Programme you’ll gather all the skills you need to be able to provide the best quality care to your clients.  You’ll also have access to training throughout your career with Home Instead, with specially designed courses including Dementia, Parkinson’s and other relevant skills which will help you in your day-to-day role.

You’ll also have the opportunity to study for the QCF (NVQ) Level 2 in Health and Social Care, providing you with the tools to work your way up the ladder.

A supportive environment

We are a professional team, but we’re also a friendly bunch and we believe if you are passionate about what you do, you do it well.  Many of our team have been working with us for a number of years, and the majority of our office team have also been carers too, so they know exactly how to support you in your role, because they’ve been there too.

As well as ensuring our clients are well looked after, we want the same for our care professionals too, so there is also someone there for you if you require any support, or its simply to hear a friendly voice on the end of the phone.
