Key to Care - 'Understanding Dementia'

Home Instead Lewes District and Uckfield run 'Key to Care' sessions to offer free guidance and support to people in the local area.

What is a 'Key to Care' session and why would it be beneficial?

We launched our ‘Key to Care’ sessions to provide people in the local area with a hub of information to start the conversation around support and ‘what’s next’ for an ageing parent or family member.

For our first session in July, we focused on understanding dementia and what signs to look for if your loved one might be suffering from memory loss.

We welcomed guest speakers including Lauren Puttock-Brown from Mayo-Wynne Baxter Solicitors and Paula Ryan from Westerham Financial Services. They offered their knowledge on a range of topics and answered questions about financial affairs, Lasting Powers of Attorney and more.

We were also excited to welcome MP and Secretary of State for mental health, Maria Caulfield, to the launch. She was our special guest for the evening!

By running this sessions, we hope to guide older people and their family members through the ageing journey.

Here are some subjects for our upcoming forums:

  • The Care Conversation
  • Parkinson’s
  • Frailty and mobility (preventing falls)
  • Nutrition and hydration

The dates and times are to be confirmed on social media! So look out for upcoming sessions on our Facebook page.
