A Guide to Garden Centres in Epping Forest

In and around Epping Forest, there are some excellent garden centres that you can visit to enjoy a relaxing day out with your loved one.

One of our favourite destinations for clients is a local garden centre as being surrounded by vibrant greenery and blossoming flowers, helps to offer a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. With spring in full swing and summer only around the corner, what better way to enjoy quality time with your loved one as you explore new sights and plants to brighten your household! With experts on hand to offer guidance and advice as to what to plant in your garden, or whether you want to explore your green thumb, we have selected some of our favourites here at Home Instead Epping Forest.

Harlow Garden Centre

Located in Hastingwood, Harlow Garden Centre offers a fantastic variety of plants and gardening essentials and is a perfect place to visit if you’re a gardening expert or a nature admirer! Originally a family-run nursery supplying produce to the London flower markets, it has now developed into a quality garden centre, offering over 1,000 varieties of trees and over 1,000 varieties of herbaceous and alpine plants.

After a leisurely stroll, if you and your loved one would like to enjoy a refreshment at their Tea & Cake Shop, they serve hot and cold lunches, cakes and pastries and a wide range of coffees. They also offer a Sunday Lunch that is served from 12pm – 2.30pm – there is certainly something for everyone to enjoy! The garden centre is wheelchair accessible, offers free parking and four legged companions are also welcome to come along and enjoy the greenery. It is open from 9:00am to 6.00pm Mondays to Saturdays, and from 10:30am to 4:30pm on Sundays. You can find the garden centre at  Canes Lane (A414), Hastingwood, CM17 9LD.

Ongar Garden Centre

Ongar Garden Centre in Brentwood is a brilliant location that caters to all your gardening needs. Whether you are just getting started on a garden project or have a green thumb all year round, you and your loved one can explore a wide selection of plants and gardening equipment. One of the smaller centres in the British Garden Centre Group, Ongar Garden Centre offers a plant focused garden centre that prides itself on quality and durability, allowing you to create your perfect garden landscape.

After a peaceful day of browsing, why not pop down to The Gardeners Retreat Restaurant where you can sit back, relax and enjoy a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings. They serve breakfast, lunch, afternoon teas (pre-booking required) and daily specials. The garden centre is wheelchair accessible, dog friendly, offers free parking and is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Mondays to Saturdays and from 10:00am to 4:30pm on Sundays. You can find the garden centre on Langford Bridge on Ongar Road, CM15 0LB.

Ashlyns Garden Centre

Offering plants and garden furniture in North Weald, Ashlyns Garden Centre located on Ashlyns Farm on Epping Road CM16 6RZ has everything you need to brighten your garden. Whether you’re looking for hanging baskets, vegetables, trees or outdoor furniture, why not pop over for a huge variety of plants! Their friendly team of experts are on hand to offer guidance and advice, ensuring your gardening endeavours flourish whatever the season.

After exploring what’s on offer, Ashlyn’s Farm shop and restaurant provides locally sourced produce, so be sure to pop in and buy some goodies there! They serve breakfast, lunch, small plates and tasty treats, so make sure to book a table on 01992 525146. The garden centre is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Mondays to Saturdays and from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Sundays.
