Live In Care

Consistent care to be able to live each day to its fullest, in the comfort of their own home.

All helping to preserve independence and capabilities with established routines.

What is Live In Care

For many families live in care is a realistic alternative to a loved one moving to a care home.

Consistent thoughtful care that allows them to live each day to its fullest, in the comfort of their own home.

Tailor made care in familiar surroundings, following established routines. No fixed times for meals, activities or visitors. All helping to preserve independence and capabilities.

Our more able clients can enjoy daily outings with their care professional, visiting favourite places. Our less able clients spend more time at home; a safe familiar place, filled with their memories.

The Home Instead Difference

Our award-winning services are companionship-led and relationship-based. Underpinned by the way we match your care professionals to you and your service.

Our office team employs everyone who works with us; vetting, supporting and training them ourselves. None of our staff are self-employed or agency staff.

All our office staff live and work locally.

This means our fully managed service is responsive to changing circumstances and unexpected events. Both for you and your care professionals when extra support is needed.

Life isn’t always predictable. So it’s reassuring to know that because we manage day-time and night-time care throughout Edinburgh, we can help with additional care at short notice. For example if your care professional needs a rest after helping unexpectedly during the night.

The Benefits of Live In Care

Once matched your care professionals will stay with you, generally rotating every 2 weeks. They’ll stay in a spare room. Helping as agreed, giving you your own space at other times. A reassuring presence for life’s unexpected events.

The benefits of live in care include…

Companionship to take away any feelings of loneliness or isolation – including conversation; support with light exercise, hobbies and pastimes; planning and accompanying you on outings and to appointments.

Housekeeping for the smooth running of the home – light housework; shopping for and preparing nutritious meals; keeping on top of correspondence and bills; other errands.

A good start and end to each day – the encouragement and support you need to get washed and dressed and to get ready for bed at night.

Assistance with moving safely around your home and when outdoors – to help prevent avoidable falls.

Management of health conditions – ensuring medication is taken consistently; recognising changing health needs and liaising with GP’s and District Nurses.

Memory Care: preserving capabilities with tailored meaningful activities.

Reassurance: peace of mind for friends and families who can’t always be there.

Precious time together: make time together quality time, not time spent fire-fighting problems.

Stay Together: live in care can help couples to continue living together.

Returning home: with the support you need after being in hospital or moving to a care home and finding it wasn’t right for you.
