The East Northamptonshire office provides award winning home care to people living in North and East Northamptonshire, and North Bedfordshire, allowing them to remain independent, and to continue to live with dignity in their own homes. The main towns serviced are Rushden, Wellingborough and Kettering, and the territory also includes all the other surrounding smaller towns and villages. The office is owned and operated by Mark Darnell and Elaine Lomax.

Mark is an Accountant and General Manager by background, whilst Elaine is an experienced Care Manager and Nurse. Both Mark and Elaine had recognised the need for a compassionate and reliable care service, having experienced problems looking after their elderly parents at home.  After investigation, they chose the leading domiciliary care franchise Home Instead Senior Care, having been attracted to the business model and ethos. They believe that their collaborative skills in care and management are an ideal combination to provide a high quality service to older and disabled people in East Northants. The business has its own well vetted and employed CAREGivers, who are selected for their caring, respectful approach to the elderly, reliability, and willingness to match their valuable skills with the excellent training that Home Instead Senior Care provides.

The East Northants office is based in Higham Ferrers on the Moulton College site, adjacent to the A6 and close to the A45. The East Northants Home Instead Senior Care Office is part of a global network of more than 975 locally owned and operated offices. The office is registered, and therefore licensed, to provide services by the Care Quality Commission (Provider ID 1-127572044).

Our reaction to recent media coverage about poor quality in home care:

At Home Instead we pride ourselves on the quality of care we provide and our success is due to our commitment to the people that engage us for their homecare services, or members of their families.

This is how we are different:

We will not enter into block contracts with the local authority which force providers into delivering care in 15 minute slots, and why our normal minimum care visit is for one hour. Our care plans are built on the requests of our clients and their families - not just checklists of tasks which need to be carried out. We offer continuity of care by allocating, wherever possible, the same CAREGivers to our clients, which ensures that a relationship can be developed and dignity is maintained. Since 2005 Home Instead has grown to more than 125 offices across the UK, which demonstrates that there is a demand for an alternative, flexible type of personalised care which is based on the needs of the individual and that is exactly the kind of service that we deliver. Our staff are all fully Criminal Records Bureau checked and have to provide us with SIX acceptable references.

We are delighted to be able to provide a non-medical service of exceptional quality for the older and disabled people of the community where we live. The work that we carry out has a positive impact, not only on the people we look after, but also their families. The best way to sum up our aim is to say that we will only deliver home care services that we would be happy for a member of our families to receive.

Our clients include individuals who have approached us themselves, children and grandchildren who have referred their parents or relatives, people who receive direct payments from the Local Authority, and clients referred to us by the Primary Care Trust. Regardless of how you come to Home Instead it is our goal to provide the same level of help and care we would want for our families.

We are viewed as a high quality and lower cost alternative to a nursing or residential home, and nationally we have won numerous domiciliary care awards for the in home care that we provide. We also specialise in cases of disablement, all forms of dementia, and palliative care, with staff who are properly trained to help clients with these particular needs. It is also possible for us to provide respite care in the home in the case of someone seeking a holiday or break. We are a people centred organisation and we look forward to helping you or a loved one continue to lead an independent life.

Our office at Moulton College in Chelveston Road in Higham Ferrers is open during normal business hours and you are more than welcome to pay us a visit, or we will happily visit you in your home to carry out a no obligation assessment. We are also contactable on our main office telephone number - 01933 358708, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including all public holidays.

We are extremely proud of our achievements after only 2 years, in becoming a Regional Semi-Finalist in the BFA Franchisee of the Year Awards in 2012, and also a Regional Finalist in the Great British Care Awards for 2012.

Sorry to have taken so long to thank you for your observations of Mum. It was really kind of you to take so much trouble. I had only expected a few short notes, so the detailed account was amazing. It was good to be able to see a different viewpoint from somebody who not only has regular contact with Mum, but who is not a family member so probably more objective. We feel that the regular contact you have with Mum has enabled her to build a good relationship and your care in assisting her to remain as independent as possible is beyond question. - Sue C Raunds
