Celebrating major milestones with our clients

There is nothing our teams love more than celebrating major milestones with our clients.

Anniversaries and birthdays are always acknowledged and there is nothing we love more than making these days extra special for people.

One celebration took an unusual turn, resulting in one of our clients receiving a year’s supply of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes from Kelloggs!

Our team in Wigan provide home care for a lady, Erica*, who recently celebrated her 102nd birthday.

Erica receives care visits each week to help with day to day chores, help getting to appointments and making sure she is eating well and keeping hydrated. She moved to the area to be closer to her family and says she loves it when her care professionals visit as they make her laugh.

When asked about her key to longevity, Erica says ‘plenty of water and a good sense of humour are the secrets to a long and happy life’. She also mentioned her love of the Crunchy Nut breakfast cereal and how a bowl, which she has been consuming for as long as she can remember, ‘sets me up for the day.’

This gave the team at Home Instead Wigan the idea to contact Kelloggs to share Erica’s heart-warming story and enthusiasm for the brand’s product.

Needless to say, Kelloggs were delighted saying, ’We know Crunchy Nut has a loyal fan base, so we were delighted to hear that 102-year-old Erica has been enjoying the irresistible cereal for as long as she can remember. When we heard about Erica, we of course arranged for her to be sent a number of boxes of her favourite cereal!’’

Good to their word, a large delivery followed, meaning Erica has a very plentiful supply of her favourite cereal.

She was bowled over (pardon the pun) by the gesture and grateful to the Home instead team for making contact with the cereal manufacturer. Erica commented, “I feel extremely grateful to my care professionals for giving me this opportunity, and I want to express my appreciation to the team at Kellogg’s. Their kind gesture has made my year.”

For our teams, getting to know the clients is a fundamental part of the home care service we provide. We get to know their likes and dislikes and what keeps them happy and living well.
