Home Instead Franchise Owners

Mike & Catharine Chalton - Franchise Owners

Mike was born on the Wirral and Catharine in Liverpool.  They were married in Birkenhead and live on the Wirral. Before entering the care sector, Mike worked in Pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing.  Catharine trained as a nurse in the Army and is a Specialist Nurse with experience in General Practice Nursing, Respiratory Nursing and Health Research.  Both Mike and Catharine are actively involved in the day to day running of the Home Instead Wirral office and the newly opened Home Instead Information Centre.

Mike is the Business Director, he uses his considerable business skills to guide and direct the business, whilst taking a keen daily interest in the welfare of both staff and clients.

Catharine is the Director of Care, and she uses her knowledge of people’s needs to ensure each client receives the service they desire, respecting all regulations and standards.

Care Manager

Jayne Ward - North Care Manager

Following a career as a Prison Custody Officer for some 15 years, Jayne became a CAREGiver with Home Instead Senior Care in 2011.

Jayne was promoted to the role of a Scheduler and went on to become an Assistant Care Manager. In 2018 she was promoted to Care Manager for the North Wirral area. 

Jayne strongly believes in the ethos of Home Instead and shares the company's passion to make a difference to the lives of older people and their family. She also enjoys providing continued support to her team members.

Jayne has studied NVQ levels 2 and 3 in Health & Social Care, NVQ level 4 in Management and an NVQ Diploma, level 5 in Management and Leadership.

Family is very important to Jayne, she has three sons and lives with her husband in Wallasey. She loves spending time with her family and enjoys keeping fit.

Jen Assistant Care Manager

Jenny Kyle - Assistant Care Manager (North East)

Jen had a successful career in marketing with a global organisation before joining Home Instead in November 2019. Whilst she enjoyed the dynamics and fast pace of working in a busy marketing team, Jen is very much a people person and so she looked to move into the care sector, where she felt she could make a difference. 

Having gained experience across all aspects of care, from companionship to dementia, through to end of life,  Jen was promoted to Assistant Care Manager for north west Wirral. Her natural compassion and attention to detail means that Jen is a perfect fit for her role and she is now located at our busy West Kirby office.

Jen is very much family oriented and lives locally with her husband and two children. She likes to keep fit and active, taking walks over to Hilbre Island with the family and spending time with family and friends.

Laura Williams - Assistant Care Manager (North West)

Laura began working for Home Instead Senior Care in August 2016 as a CAREGiver. She had an extensive background within the care industry having worked in nursing homes and other home care agencies over the previous eight years.

Laura was keen to further her career with Home Instead and was successful in her application for the role of Assistant Care Manager in 2019. She loves Home Instead's ethos of changing the face of ageing and the fact there are always exciting developments within the company.

Laura has obtained NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care and she is also qualified in Moving and handling training.

She lives in Wirral and has four lovely children. They have lots of fun finding new and exciting things to do together as a family.

Care Manager

Mary Jordan - South Care Manager

Mary joined Home Instead as a CAREGiver in 2008. Having always loved working with elderly people she was a perfect fit to her role, which along with her dedication, helped her progress to Assistant Care Manager.

Mary's passion to help others, combined with her inspiring nature, made her a natural choice for her current role as Care Manager for the South West Wirral Area. She has relished the opportunity to further support her elderly clients and her team, and she receives many compliments from appreciative clients on a weekly basis. Suffice to say, Mary is a valued member of the Home Instead Wirral team.

Mary lives in Claughton with her partner and two daughters. In her spare time she enjoys running to keep herself fit and healthy, and spending time with her family.

Assistant Care Manager

Nicci Williamson - Assistant Care Manager (South East)

Prior to joining Home Instead, Nicci owned and managed The Terrace, a successful café and catering business in Moreton, Wirral. Previously owned by Nicci’s auntie, it was at the centre of the local community, which Nicci really loved. However, very much a people person, Nicci wanted to spend more time actually working with people rather than running an ever-growing business and sold The Terrace in 2015, looking to move into the care sector where she could put her natural people skills to good use and make a difference.

Nicci joined Home Instead in 2015 as a CAREGiver and hasn’t looked back since. After 2 years she was promoted to Care Certificate Mentor, guiding new CAREGivers through their first months in the job and helping them achieve their CARE Certification. After just a few months, Nicci was promoted again to Assistant Care Manager for south east Wirral, where she is able to make the most of her people and team management skills, both in the office and out in the community.

Outside of work, Nicci lives in Wirral with her husband, their two daughters and the family French Bulldog, Lottie; they also have a son who has given them 3 wonderful grandchildren. She has a wide range of interests, including food and socialising with her family and friends, watching films (action movies and thrillers are her favourites) and cooking. She also likes to travel, enjoying a mix of relaxation and cultural city breaks.

Assistant Care Manager

Lea Bowen - Assistant Care Manager (South West)

Lea has spent almost all her career to date in the care sector; she is a seasoned Care professional. Starting out working as a CAREGiver in the residential care home sector, she moved into domiciliary care for a number of years, before returning to manage a care home in Wirral.

In 2010, Lea sadly lost her father, which made her look at her own life in a different way and she eventually decided to move away from the care sector for a short period. However, once she realised how much she missed her true vocation, Lea looked to move back into domiciliary care.

Lea joined Home Instead in 2011, working in the Rapid Access Service, which provided specialist social care to patients returning to their home from hospital. In 2018, Lea took up a role as a Care Certificate Mentor, covering maternity leave, guiding new CAREGivers through their first months in the job and helping them achieve their CARE Certification. She remained in this role until she was promoted into her current role as Assistant Care Manager for south west Wirral, where she is able to make the most of her career skills and experience, both in the office and out in the community.

Outside of work, Lea has two gorgeous granddaughters, with whom she enjoys spending as much time as possible. When she finds time to relax, Lea loves to travel. Her favourite locations include the far east (especially Thailand) and Cuba. She was in Havana when Hurricane Irma struck, but thankfully she escaped unscathed, if not a little shaken. Lea also likes watching films (horror and thrillers are her favourites), and she confesses to liking what she describes as, 'cheesy' 80’s pop music.

Head of Recruitment and Training

Emma Hewitt - Head of Recruitment and Training

Originally from Scotland, Emma moved to the Wirral in 2010. Following a 10-year career with British Telecom and a career break with her young children, she joined the Home Instead Senior Care team as a CAREGiver, gaining experience across the entire spectrum of domiciliary care.

In October 2018, she was promoted to Assistant Care Manager for North East and obtained a Level 3 NVQ in Adult Heath and Social Care. Emma’s natural people skills and desire to help others reach their full potential, led to her being promoted to Head of Recruitment and Training in November 2019.

Emma believes in what Home Instead Senior Care are achieving and is passionate that our CAREGivers feel valued and have the relevant training and support, whilst delivering outstanding care to their clients.

Family is hugely important to Emma. She is married with two young sons, she loves animals and enjoys spending most of her free time supporting her boys at football.

Training Officer

Gaynor Adam - Training Officer

Gaynor joined Home Instead Wirral in September 2014 as a CAREGiver for a few hours per week as it combined well with her own private counselling business. The more she learnt about the company the more she wanted to become involved. Gaynor started assisting with introductions and the out of hours on call service and attending events and representing the company. She was then successful in becoming the Assistant Care Manager for Wirral North East area, having successfully achieved her Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care.

When (due to expansion) a vacancy arose for a professional full time trainer, Gaynor was the obvious choice; prior to working for Home Instead Wirral, she qualified as a professional trainer and gained her PTTLS qualification with flying colours. Gaynor describes herself as being "passionate about dementia and quality care for the elderly" and now trains all our new CAREGivers on the week long, award winning induction programme, and all our end of life and dementia training, both in-house and externally, as part of our charitable offering through the Wirral Care Foundation, for Wirral based organisations and families living with dementia in Wirral. All our dementia training services are completely free of charge as it is the vision of owners Mike and Catharine Chalton to make Wirral a dementia friendly peninsula. 

Gaynor was born in Wirral and lives in Oxton with her fiancee Anthony and their two dogs, Lola-Mae and Dolly, and their two rescue cats, Nancy and Rocky. Gaynor loves travel, particularly to Capital cities around the world. She also loves reading crime novels and walking her dogs along the Wirral coastline.

Recruitment Officer - Sue Gollins

Sue Gollins - Recruitment Officer

Sue is our Recruitment Officer. Having joined Home Instead Wirral in January 2021, she brings a wealth of recruitment and training experience from across the social care sector. 

Sue’s career spans a broad spectrum of recruitment, from child-care to elderly care. She has recruited for a number of national companies, including an operator of day nurseries, where she also provided training at all levels. She has a qualification in childcare, which she made good use of in her own business, where she wrote and produced educational films covering child and social sciences.

Sue also has had direct experience as a carer from looking after her own elderly family members, whilst combining her free time to recruit for after-school clubs, as well as volunteering at local hospitals.

Sue lives in Wirral and is married with two children. She is enjoys being with animals and her family has quite a collection including horses, dogs, chickens, guinea pigs, and a few sheep. Sue especially loves working with her Collie at dog agility, which is also a great form of aerobic exercise.

Finance Officer

Pam Jordan - Finance Officer

Pam was born in Wirral and has lived here all her life. Pam is an invaluable member of the team who is responsible for all aspects of the financial administration of the business.

Pam lives in Birkenhead with her partner and little girl. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, in particular at her caravan in North Wales.

Admin Officer

Becky Simpson - Project co-ordinator

Becky started working for Home Instead in 2017 as an apprentice Administrator. She had previously worked as a hairdresser for five years, however, she decided to change her career as she wanted a more rewarding role.

During her time as an apprentice, Becky studied NVQ level 2 & 3 in business administration. She was subsequently promoted to Project Co-ordinator and is currently studying for an AAT accounting qualification.

Becky lives with her partner in Prenton.  In her spare time she enjoys playing badminton and spending time with friends and family.

Scheduler

Tracy Parkes - Scheduler (North West)

Tracy joined Home Instead as a CAREGiver in 2014 and became a Scheduler in 2016. Tracy had extensive experience of working with elderly prior to joining Home Instead and loves speaking to our wonderful clients.

Tracy was born and grew up in Birkenhead and has lived there all her life. She lives with her partner and their two children. 

In her spare time Tracy enjoys reading, particularly thrillers. Tracy adores animals.

Hayley Hughes - Scheduler (South East)

Prior to joining Home Instead, Hayley worked as a scheduler for a company in the utilities sector. Following redundancy, she looked to have a change of role where she could make best use of her interpersonal skills and joined Home Instead in 2018 as a CAREGiver.

Hayley enjoyed the diversity of the work and being with people out in the community. In March 2020, she stepped in to provide On-Call cover during the evenings, in addition to her CAREGiving role during the day. Following on from there, in the September she was asked to cover a scheduling role temporarily, for which she was obviously a 'perfect fit' and so we just had to keep her as a scheduler. Hayley is really enjoying being back in a scheduling role.

Outside of work Hayley is extremely family focused and lives in Wirral with her two daughters and her 2 cats. She likes horror movies and all types of music. She also loves travel and is planning a trip to Las Vegas with her brother next year, all being well.

Scheduler

Kirsty Hall - Scheduler (South West)

Following her first year of training as a nurse, Kirsty needed to gain the required experience in the care sector. Having been referred by a friend, she joined Home Instead Wirral as a CAREGiver in 2015 and liked it so much, she decided to stay. Naturally, we are delighted to have her.

Having worked successfully across every area of care from companionship to end-of-life care, Kirsty was promoted to the role of scheduler for south west Wirral.

Kirsty, who lives in Wirral, has a broad range of interests including travel to European countries, with Spain and The Netherlands being her favourites to visit. Whilst in Amsterdam one-time she met the Ajax football team, which is one of her a fondly held memories.

She also likes to cycle, but over shorter demanding routes to get a good aerobic workout, although she once had a cycling adventure around London on one of ‘Boris’s bikes’. Kirsty also enjoys watching real-life crime documentaries is a self-confessed Taylor Swift fan.

Their thoughtfulness and dedication are an inspiration.  They work tirelessly helping our clients retain their dignity whilst remaining independent their own homes.  They arrive with a smile and friendly welcome for clients and their families. 

Many of our CAREGivers entered the care sector because they want to make a difference to lives of the elderly, some of them having cared for loved ones of their own.  Every day they provide comfort, companionship, practical help and personal care.  Some of our CAREGivers have been with the Wirral Team from the very beginning and have witnessed the expansion and success of the Wirral Franchise as it continues to grow.  The quality of our CAREGivers' work remains paramount; they continue to provide support, stimulation and personal care to our clients with absolute dedication and commitment.

Business Development Executive - Administrator

Bev Favager - BDE

Bev joined Home Instead Senior Care as a CAREGiver in 2018 following a career in law. She was subsequently successful in her application for the role of Business Development Executive in the South Wirral area.

Bev is a born 'people person' and a natural communicator. She loves networking in the community sharing her passion for Home Instead with businesses, charities, community and church groups among others. She is even known to dress as an Elf at Christmas, as part of the annual Home Instead 'Be A Santa to a Senior' campaign.

Bev lives in Neston with her husband, two children and her dog called Buddy. She loves animals (particularly dogs), spending time with her family, reading and going on dog walks.

Lauren Corteen-Hayes - Administrator

Lauren joins the Home Instead Family following her A-Levels. She is very much a people person, with a bubbly personality and she wanted to join the care sector, where she could make a difference.

In her role at Home Instead, Lauren provides a range of important administrative support to our operations team and her natural compassion and attention to detail means that she is a perfect fit for her role. 

Lauren lives in Wirral with her family. Her main passion away from work is riding her horse, named Teddy, whom she has owned for the last five years. Lauren also enjoys listening to music and spending time with her close friends and family.

Caitlin Mitchell - Administrator

Caitlin Mitchell - Administrator

Based at our West Kirby office, Caitlin is our administrator, supporting the north Wirral team.

Prior to joining Home Instead, Caitlin qualified as a Hairdresser. After qualifying from her apprenticeship, she worked in a long-established Wirral salon until the COVID pandemic caused the first lockdown in 2020. 

She then decided to have a change and worked in a customer services role for a national retailer for a year; however, after finding that this role did not make use of her best skills, she left to join Home Instead in February 2021.

Caitlin lives in Wirral. When she is not working, she likes to spend time with her boyfriend and socialising with her close friends. She likes to keep herself active by taking walks with her dog ‘Biggins’, a King Charles Spaniel.

Caitlin also likes listening to music and has a broad taste in popular music. James Arthur and MK being her favourite artists to listen to.  She also likes to watch films. Romance (Bridesmaids and Mean Girls are two of her favourites) and horror movies being her preferred genres of movie.

Pauline Haggett - Field Supervisor

Pauline Haggett - Field Supervisor South Wirral

Very much a people person, Pauline brings a wealth of experience to her role as a Field Supervisor having worked as a CAREGiver for 4 years before being promoted to her current role in March 2021.

Prior to joining Home Instead, Pauline’s career background comprised a diverse range of customer facing roles, which have helped her hone her people skills, starting with a 10-year career working for a major airline as cabin crew, which allowed her to travel extensively around the world.

After leaving her high-flying career with the airline, Pauline spent the next 10-years as a full-time mum, raising her two daughters. During this time, she recognised her love of helping others and she considered a career in nursing, taking the first year of her nursing degree. However, she was a presented with an opening to work with a national bank, where she went on to build a successful career as a bank manager over the following 8 years.

After leaving the banking sector, Pauline worked for a household name retailer in a number of customer facing roles, before finding Home Instead Wirral, joining in 2017.

Pauline lives in Wirral and is married with two grown-up daughters and one grandson. Her personal interests include a wide range of music (although anything from the 80’s is her favourite) and cooking (particularly Indian food). She also loves taking long coastal walks to keep fit and healthy and unsurprisingly, she still loves to travel. South Africa is her favourite destination.

Shirley Monteith - Field Supervisor

Shirley Monteith - Field Supervisor

Shirley brings a wealth of experience as a CAREGiver to her role as Field Supervisor at Home Instead Wirral. She joined the company in 2019, bringing valuable experience having previously worked in care for 4 years. She has also worked in a number of customer-facing roles, which allowed her to develop her essential people skills.

Shirley lives in Wirral with her husband. She is very family oriented and has four daughters and a son, three grandsons and a granddaughter, all of whom she adores. When she has time for herself, Shirley enjoys socialising with her friends, including eating out and listening to live music. Although she has a broad musical taste, she prefers rock, with Meatloaf being her favourite artist.

Since being promoted to her current role in March 2021, Shirley is enjoying being part of a vibrant and growing team. She loves the diverse mix of office-based work and still being able to go out into the field to support our CAREGivers and interacting with our clients.

She is also presently studying for her NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.

Cath Corby - Field Supervisor

Cath is a hugely compassionate and caring person, which makes her a perfect fit for Home Instead. She took up her current role in March 2021 after working for 5 years as a CAREGiver, experiencing every aspect of the role in that time.

She has great attention to detail, which most likely stems from her early career, which she began working in research for Unilever, where she stayed up until she had her first child, when she became a full-time mum. 

When Cath eventually returned to work, she found a role with a local charitable organisation, which focused on helping local people create a better life for themselves though a range of counselling and advisory and support services. This role helped Cath to discover her caring nature and desire to help people live a better life; something that Home Instead is committed to.

Cath lives in Wirral with her 2 sons 2 dogs, 2 cats, and many more than 2 tropical fish. When she finds time for herself, she likes crafts, especially sewing and embroidery. She also likes to spend time out walking with her dogs, which keeps her fit and healthy.

Cath is loving her role as a Field supervisor as it gives her the best of both worlds, being part of a team and still being able to get out into the community to see the CAREGivers and clients.

Kim Taylor - Field Supervisor

As a field supervisor, Kim plays a key part in supporting our care team in north Wirral. She has experience of all aspects of care, having previously spent 5 years working as CAREGiver herself. 

Kim’s experience means she perfectly equipped for her current role, which she really enjoys, especially the balance of being able work as part of the operations team in our West Kirby office, whilst still being able to go out into the community to support our CAREGivers.

Prior to joining Home Instead, Kim had her own business baking cakes, which she started due to a lack of quality dairy free products being available in the shops. She really enjoyed this part of her career as she was baking cakes to order for a wide range of special occasions.

Kim lives in Wirral with her partner and 2 daughters, along with their family dog, a Labradoodle. She is a Beaver Leader with the local scout group and in her spare time she enjoys taking frequent walks to unwind and keep fit and healthy. Kim likes to listen to a music, and although she has a fairly broad taste, indie and rock are her favourite genres.
