OPAL (Older People’s Action in the Locality) supports older people in the LS16 area to live happy, healthy, informed lives in their own homes.
St Gemma’s Hospice, in Leeds, is one of the largest hospices in England. It provides the best possible care and quality of life for local people with cancer and other life threatening illnesses. It’s a friendly, warm and safe place at the heart of the local community with a large range of expert services to support patients, their families and friends, both in the Hospice and in the community. Care is focussed around the needs of the individual and all services are respectful of all beliefs, religions and cultures. St Gemma’s is a local charity, providing all services for free – therefore it relies on the support and generosity of the community to help raise the funds needed.
Our aim is to improve quality of life for the over 60’s by providing community based activities, information, help and support.
Age UK Leeds works across Leeds to support older people to enjoy later life. We have a varied range of services for older people in Leeds and these are detailed on our website.
Our mission is to raise awareness of dementia in Leeds, and support any organisation (schools, churches, banks, cafes, taxis etc) to become more dementia friendly.
We offer free support such as dementia friends sessions for staff, support to set up groups, hold environmental checks and more - whatever suits the organisation's team, aims and availability.
"We always felt dad was receiving excellent care and support at home from carers who are very skilled and sensitive to the needs of the person with dementia. Carers were always cheerful and positive in outlook."Mrs P - Daughter of client in Collingham
