Delivering festive cheer

This year, we've been on a mission to help tackle social isolation for older people within our community. This is vital for our mental wellbeing and it's important that we keep our brains active and stimulated with engaging activities. This is why we've created a Christmas puzzle book that we've given to many older people within our community.

Thanks to our Be a Santa to a Senior Campaign, we've spent the last week having great fun delivering these puzzle books as well as Christmas cards/messages donated by local school children to bring some Christmas happiness to the wider community. Our puzzle books and the children's Christmas cards have been given to:

  • all of our clients
  • Have been included in the OPAL (Older People's Action in the Locality) gift bags
  • Have been helping to provide festive cheer at local older people's homes including Tatterton Lodge, St Edmunds Court, Richmond House, Highlands, Wetherby Manor, Home Paddock House, Ashfield Care Home and Matcham Grange.

We have managed to distribute over 1500 copies of our puzzle book locally through other community groups and GP surgeries as well as sharing over 400 Christmas donations from local school children. In addition, we have also been circulating the Shine publication which is written specifically to support older people in Leeds and West Yorkshire.

Thank you so much to all of the lovely donations we received from local primary schools - we wish everyone within our community a very Merry Christmas!
