A great place to meet up and chat
Members of the Home Instead Senior Care team took part in the Lymm Youth and Community Centre Open Day, it was a great opportunity to meet up with local people and other organisations who support members of the community. We were able to make a great link with Suzanne and Vicky, two local Podiatrists who work in the area. As everyone who works with older people know, availability of good quality, regular foot care support is a really vital part of being able to stay active and independent. If your feet hurt, or your shoes don't fit it can lead to major problems such as poor balance, increased risk of a fall and just generally a lack of desire to get out and about.
These two ladies are one hundred percent committed to helping older people in a way that best suits their needs. Similar to Home Instead they provide the service in the comfort and privacy of the clients own home. It is vital that people needing help with footcare receive it on a regular basis, CQC recommends between six to eight weeks, also that it is carried out by someone who knows what to look out for in terms of potential problems or related health conditions such as diabetes.
A hot tip from Suzanne on how to practice good foot care is to check your feet regularly or ask a member of your family/carer to do it for you. Wash your feet daily and dry them well, paying particular attention to between your toes. This will help prevent fungal and bacterial conditions from occurring.
Vicky can be contacted through firstname.lastname@example.org or 0151 420 7583 or 07594 461060.
So it was a great day all round, here at Home Instead we get so excited when we meet people who have the same approach as we do towards older people and finding other services that can help our clients to live a happier, healthier life!
