Home care in Taunton & West Somerset

My mother had been diagnosed with the onset of memory loss and we needed support in the context that she was not fully aware/accepting of her condition. The support has been sensitive and discreet in the first instance and then flexible and practical as her needs have been better understood and then developed.

Having used Home Instead’s services for 2 years while they looked after my mother-in-law, I knew they were different and rather special. Mum’s Care Professionals became our extended family. So when I decided this summer I wanted a part time job to keep me active in my community doing something useful in these difficult times, there was no question about who I would approach.

My mother is nearly 90 and has a preference for living at home and definitely does not want to go into a care home. Home Instead makes this possible. Home Instead arranges for prescriptions to be collected and delivered, takes Mum to doctors appointments, does mom’s shopping and a host of other things.

My father is 94 and lives on his own and is determined to stay in his own home. Being fiercely independent, he was, at first, reluctant to have any ‘stranger’ in his home. Then he finally agreed to have some help and a lovely young woman from Home Instead came. He now has a Care Professional coming every day. The whole team involved in his care are exemplary.

I am extremely impressed by the standard of care provided. The professionalism is excellent. Care is provided with compassion and thoughtfulness. Care professionals and management treat with dignity and go above and beyond to provide a responsive, caring service. I am truly grateful for all you provide.

Without a doubt, the standard of care has been of consistently high standard. Care Professionals are patient, empathetic, friendly, compassionate and professional. They have taken the time to get to know Mum, always spend time chatting and laughing with her. Mum feels happy and secure in their company. The office team are very supportive and reactive and keep in regular contact via email or telephone calls. I cannot praise them enough.

Our experience with Home Instead began when the dedicated staff supported us with end of life care for my stepfather. My mother continued to receive support after his death. We have been so grateful for the service which meant that Mum maintained her independence until she was almost 96. The quality of Care Professionals has always been reflected in their attentive and caring approach and she she was treated as an individual. She thought of them as friends and was always treated with respect.

I’ve been working for Home Instead for more nearly 4 months now. I wasn’t confident at first having never been an employed Care Professional before, but the whole team has been so supportive that I’ve been able to settle in very easily. I love that on my visits I nearly always find I have enough time to give clients more than just basic help and attention. If I had relatives in need of care I would definitely trust Home Instead to provide it!!!

Working for a care provider I am very particular about who would be good enough to support and help look after my mum when she needed support as she aged. A leading CQC question is ‘would it be good enough for your mum?’, well I have nothing but praise, respect and admiration for the Care Professionals. They were very respectful to mum and my family too if ever we were staying with her. Mum’s needs changed and the care mum received changed with it in a professional and discreet way.

They have supported my friend emotionally, physically and provide a psychological boost to her with each visit. Nothing seems too much trouble and they ‘think outside the box’ for resolutions, offer advice when necessary and will accommodate requests if they can. The office staff communicate regularly and are friendly and approachable. I cannot praise the care team enough, their efforts, companionship and time ensure that my friend can stay in her own home.

After a professional working life and twenty years of retirement living on my own, they are introducing me painlessly to accepting help when I need it. They are well organised and practical so one feels safe and they have a very friendly ‘can do’ approach to whatever is asked of them, an approach that appears to be consistent throughout a varied team of staff and Care Professionals which suggests careful recruitment and proper attention given to training.

Amazing company to work with, so friendly and helpful. There is a real family feel to Home Instead, from Management to Care Professionals, they go above and beyond to be there for you and let you know you are appreciated. The best bit of working as part of this team is knowing that together we are making a difference to so many lives, providing support, care and companionship to our clients, especially through these very difficult times, and giving peace of mind to their families.

The Care Professionals are all sensitive, caring and hard working. Behind the scenes organisation is good. If there are any expenses incurred, you have a very clear system in place which is very helpful. I now rely on the Care Professionals for many tasks that have become too difficult for me, and the all undertake them all willingly and cheerfully.

I have Parkinson’s and following a fall, which broke my hip. As my illness progressed the number of visits were altered to suit me. The office staff are also excellent I just have to call them and they try to accommodate my request even at short notice. I feel extremely lucky to have such a nice team of Care Professionals, without them I would not be able to remain at home.

It’s excellent that there is a minimum of 1 hour per visit so no rush and they don’t wear uniforms which is much more personal. Probably the most useful aspect about this company is the wide variety of things they can do for your relative – not just personal care. They also use an app which relatives can put on their phone and they get daily updates from Care Professionals.

I have recently returned to employment after over 18 years. Returning to work as a single mother was very daunting but the team at Home Instead have made the transition smooth and easy. They have welcomed me with open arms and been very helpful when issues have arose for me with my chronic illness which has allowed me to continue working with a plan that works for me. I’m so grateful to have a found a great company that really do care about you.

Home Instead (Taunton & West Somerset) have been brilliant in looking after my mother at home. The carers were all very polite, punctual and my mother was very happy having them around to help her and also people she could talk to. Home Instead (Taunton & West Somerset) has been caring for my parents for almost 3 years, first for my mum and now for my dad. The care they have provided has been excellent and has ensured that my parents could remain in their home as their health has deteriorated. We speak very highly of them. The carers are kind, professional and empathetic and nothing is too much trouble. They make a care plan and constantly check to see if we need them to make any adjustments. Communication is excellent. They care about their clients and go above and beyond to ensure their comfort and safety. We are very grateful to them.

Home Instead have provided consistent excellent care to my elderly Dad. The carers are always respectful of his wishes, listening to what he wants and thereby enabling him to feel happy in his own home. He is helped with various daily tasks of his choosing and is therefore able to stay in his own home with carers who always have his best interests at heart. I rate Home Instead very highly.

The home care provision by Home Instead for my father has been exemplary. Dad has dementia. We have required the service of Home Instead for the last year. All the staff have been caring, empathetic and nothing is too much trouble for them. There is daily feedback from the staff, which is very useful also. I simply cannot praise this organisation enough! They are reliable in every way.

Your carers are always cheerful, and ready to help me with anything that needs doing! As well as helping me cope (I am just out of Hospital), it is lovely to have the companionship, and know that we can go out for coffee and chat!

Home Instead is a first-class care provider. The carers have all been exceptionally helpful and caring – very willing to help in any way they can. They have helped my wife with dignity, kindness and respect.

All the caregivers at Home Instead (Taunton & West Somerset) are fantastic with my nan. They are attentive and supportive of her needs and very thoughtful. My mum has received visits from Home Instead (Taunton & West Somerset) care professionals for over a year now. I can’t rate them highly enough, they are professional, caring and very aware of Mum’s personal interests, and tailor outings to suit her interests. The correspondence with us is amazing, from scheduling to any issues with medication etc.

My sister was diagnosed with dementia in May 2021. At that time she said she wanted to stay in her own home for as long as she could. She also has type 2 diabetes and is not very mobile. There was also very few friends and family who could help and care for her.
As my sister would need more help as time went by I contacted Home Instead. I had had excellent personal recommendations for this company and was impressed by their reviews. They have been helping me now with my sister since September 2022. We started with 2 hours a week which has now increased to 3 hours.
The Home Instead carers have been excellent with my sister, she can be a little difficult at times due to her dementia and her character. The carers are punctual, there is good communication between us and they offer my sister much kindness, companionship and help. Communication with the Home Instead office is also very good. I highly recommend them.
