Alison Broadhurst - Owner/Care Director
Before opening Home Instead South Manchester/ North Trafford, Alison was a Senior Director for some of the biggest names in British retail. She learnt an enormous amount working with some very talented people, including the crucial importance of outstanding customer care and what it takes to lead a team that can deliver it consistently.
After a successful career in business, Alison was looking for a change of direction – an opportunity to use her energy, skills and experience to make a difference to people’s lives, to give something back to the local community. When she came across Home Instead she knew she’d found the perfect partner. She found their commitment to changing the face of ageing inspiring and now works hard every day to make that commitment a reality.
Away from work, Alison enjoys spending time with her family, hill walking and dragging her long-suffering partner to ballroom dancing lessons.
Ted Hart - Owner/ Business Director
Ted is Alison’s partner and works with her running Home Instead South Manchester/North Trafford.
Ted’s background is in marketing. Having spent years producing ads for some of the biggest brands on the high street, he knows the key to success for any organisation is a deep understanding of its clients as individual people. This knowledge is the essential first step to understanding what it is they want and to delivering it consistently.
His role in the organisation is to make sure all the boring but important background stuff is taken care of so Alison and the rest of the team can concentrate on delivering the best possible care and service to our clients.
In his spare time Ted enjoys writing (he's hoping to have his first novel published soon) as well as practising the quickstep and tango with Alison.
Gemma Warburton - Care Manager
Gemma has worked in Care for eleven years and has experience across a wide range of areas, including mental health, disability and homelessness. She left her previous role to join Home Instead as she wanted to move into the senior sector and was particularly attracted by the fact that our primary goals are not financial but are focused on the quality of care we provide.
She and her partner have a son, three girls and two cats. When not at work she enjoys walking, swimming and eating out with the family. Music, live music in particular, is also a real passion and she has an ambition to drive across the U.S.A. in a convertible.

Jenny Dutton - Scheduler
Jenny is our Scheduler – a crucial role within the team. Her main task is to make sure that all our visits are happening when the client wants them and are covered by a CAREGiver that’s going to be right for them. No mean feat considering that we’re delivering thousands of hours of care every month. Jenny also runs part of our CAREGiver induction training – an entirely different kind of task but something she’s just as good at. Her eight years experience in senior care means she well equipped for both parts of her job.
Jenny’s a real local – having been born and raised in Chorlton, though she did move out of the area a couple of years ago. She’s married and has two young daughters, Emily and Holly. When she returned to work recently she knew she wanted to go back into caring for older people…
“I’ve always loved listening to the stories my clients tell me, not just because it’s great to hear about times that were very different to todeay but because I really feel you can learn a lot from them.”
She’s also right on board with the Home Instead philosophy…

Madeline Mason - Community Developer/Office Adminstrator
Madeline has a dual role with us. As our Community Developer, she's out and about working with the wider network of people trying to improve the lives of older people in our the community. Back in the office she also has a key role not just making sure all the admin is running smoothly but also being a first point of contact for clients, their families and CAREGivers who are out and about. She’s a natural at this, always calm and positive whatever the situation.
Madeline's a real local, born and bred in Chorlton. She has a 13-year-old daughter and a dog and they all love getting out and about - walking, cycling or camping. She's a great believer in "you can't judge a book by it's cover" and in doing little things to brighten someone's day like smiling at a stranger or just everyone a nice cup of tea. She says...
"Often, all people need is somebody to listen and care just a little and it can change their life around."

Emma Pimbley - Recruitment Co-ordinator.
Emma joined us recently as out new Recruitment Co-ordinator. She’s got great experience in care having been a CareGiver, Senior CareGiver and a Care Co-ordinator so she certainly knows what to look for when recruiting new people to join our team.
Even more importantly she’s absolutely committed to providing the very best kind of care, as she says “the kind of care you’d want for yourself or for a member of your family”. This means that, for Emma, a big part of the selection process is finding potential new CAREGivers who will share this ethos, something that unites all of us here at Home Instead.
Outside work, Emma’s number one priority is again care, this time looking after her two children, Jake and Leah, whose after school activities include Muay Thai, so clearly not a family to mess with. The rest of her family are also really important to Emma and she loves spending time with her parents and grandparents.
Katie Gathercole - Senior CAREGiver
Katie, who's proud to be from Leeds but now loves living in Manchester, had always wanted a job that meant she could really make a difference. Now she's found one as a Senior CAREGiver at Home Instead.
Being a Senior CAREGiver means Katie gets to personally care for her own clients as well as passing on her experience and expertise (she has a degree in Adult Social Care) to help bring the best out of the rest of our CAREGiving Team.
"I love my job - getting to know our clients as individuals and hearing their stories. Age is something that will happen to us all and it's so rewarding to help an older person stay happy, healthy and independent as long as possible. I'm really proud to work for a company which really cares about its clients."
Away from work, Katie likes to read, swim and listen to music - some of it supplied by her musician partner Dave. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family, including her pets - a cat called Olive and Sage, the bearded dragon.
