Our CAREGivers - the 'heart' of our service!

Our wonderful CAREGivers are specially selected on the basis of their personalities – kindness, empathy, reliability and a genuine interest in other people are all key attributes that we look for.

After completing an initial 3 days of award winning training with Sophie, our Training and Client Services Manager, to ensure that they have the skills they need, they are hand-picked for each of our clients. We match them based on interests and background to ensure that quality relationships can be built.

Our CAREGivers receive ongoing specialist training, mentoring and support to ensure that they always deliver the very best care. They don’t wear uniforms – just a Home Instead ID badge – and a lovely smile!

Judy and Will Clay - Owners

We moved to the Lake District from Hampshire in 2017 and love the scenery and the feeling of community which we have found here. Together we share responsibility for the overall direction of Home Instead South Lakes. Judy is responsible for the day to day delivery of the service, working with our Client Services and CAREGiver Operations Managers and our team of dedicated CareGivers. Will is mainly to be found in the local community talking about what we do and how we can support the older people of the South Lakes.

Both of us have many years of senior management experience with several large UK companies. We are both committed to offering our staff the opportunities to further their development through access to award winning training schemes. We want to enable them to deliver the very best service and to share with us the belief that only care good enough for our own loved ones is good enough for our clients.

Between us we have 5 grown up children and four grandchildren. We have a large extended family and love spending time with them all – although this can be very noisy and involve an awful lot of food!

In our spare time we enjoy walking our dogs, Megan and Darcy, in this beautiful part of the world. Will is an avid sports fan who loves to play golf and is looking forward to getting to know the courses in the South Lakes. Judy spends her spare time doing various arts and crafts and especially enjoys cross stitching and making patchwork quilts.

Sophie Cammaerts - Client Services Manager

Coming from a family, that in the most part, has worked in the public or social care sector, it was almost predetermined that I would follow suit when I grew up. However, as a naturally stubborn teenager I was set on doing the exact opposite to what had been pre-planned for me. This dramatically changed when I began to go to college and built a friendship with a local elderly man who would walk his dogs past the bus stop each morning. After building such a strong relationship, where we would meet each morning at the bench for our morning chats, my passion for care and the elderly became clear. This led me to start volunteering in a residential and nursing home, where I was employed as soon as I turned 18.

I have worked in several job roles from CAREGiver to Recruiter to Manager which gives me a good understanding of the sector and what it demands, whilst also being able to empathise and share the perspectives of my team.

Like many others who have worked in the care sector, I faced many challenges that meant my values and passion were either devalued or constrained, especially by the fifteen and thirty minute visits which are commonplace for many providers of care. This began to take its toll on me and at times I struggled to feel motivated to work within a sector that didn’t seem to stand for what it promised.

However, I was determined to be part of a positive change, and felt a weight being lifted off my shoulders when I heard of Home Instead Senior Care.

At Home Instead we dedicate ourselves to delivering the care and attention people deserve. Our clients are at the centre of everything we do and we truly value our CAREGivers, as without them we would not be able to fulfil our mission and deliver such a high-quality service. At Home Instead, if we say we will do something, we really will. We are honest in our actions, passionate in our delivery and are always here to help, most of the time with the kettle on and a packet of biscuits waiting!  

It is an honour to be a part of such a fantastic team and organisation. I love coming to work and being able to instill my core values into my working life and the lives of our clients and CAREGivers.

Faye Donoghue - CAREGiver Operations Manager

Hello, my name is Faye and I have lived in the South Lakes all of my life except for living over-seas for a year. I am the CAREGiver Operations Manager for Home Instead South Lakes. I have responsibility for on-boarding of new staff, ongoing support and supervisions, and organising the schedules for client visits. 

Before joining Home Instead in February 2018, I had spent four years  working in the health and social care sector delivering care to individuals who all required a variety of support. I am passionate about people receiving the care they deserve and need and for care to be as individual as the person receiving it so that they have a fantastic quality of life with dignity and respect. That is why Home Instead really stood out to me, their ideals and ethos are exceptional and allow for CAREGivers to really make a difference to someone’s life.

I am excited to be part of the Home Instead South Lakes Team and supporting people to have the quality of life they deserve and allowing them the opportunity to stay in their own home.

Pamela Gios - Senior CAREGiver

Pamela originally joined Home Instead as a CAREGiver and has a wealth of experience in care. She was promoted to Senior CAREGiver in November 2018 and will be working alongside Faye to support our CAREGiver team.

Megan and Darcy - Office Dogs

Hello our names are Megan and Darcy and we work at Home Instead Senior care.

We spend our days in the office where we love to meet all the wonderful CareGivers who work here. We also love to go out and about with Will and Judy meeting local people and telling them about the amazing work that our team does to help older people in their own homes. If you see us around please come and say hello. We love cuddles and fuss and we will never say no to a biscuit!

We are sprocker spaniels (our dad was a working cocker and our mum was a working springer) so we love the South Lakes because we have lots of opportunities to get wet and muddy and to chase pheasants! It’s not our fault, it’s in our genes!
