The Southend on Sea Team
My name is Emma, I went into the care industry when I was seventeen years old. I worked in a few different care homes, (nursing homes and residential homes). I really enjoy helping other people and putting a smile on someone's face.
I had some time off work to raise my kids and when I moved to Southend on Sea five years ago,I thought I would go back to work. I came across Home Instead Senior Care on the web site, I've never looked after someone in their own homes, and I thought I would try it out. I went to my interview and did my training,I was then introduced to a client who had dementia.
Nearly 4 years later im still with the company and loving every minute of it. I've now made it to being a senior and working more in the office, and I get to meet all our clients.
I love reading and animals. I've got two huskys and cats plus two snakes,(which the boss is scared off. Lol).
Elaine Robinson - CAREGiver/General Office Support
Hi I am Elaine, I joined Home Instead Senior Care about three years ago as a CAREGiver but now have a dual role within the company helping out in the office.
Prior to joining the company I had been a full time carer for my own father for nearly 25 years - which was some times very demanding, sometimes quite dificult and at times very rewarding but never the same two days running - a bit like being a CAREGiver today.
Having being part of the team for a while now I can honestly say that I find them all to be very hard working, friendly and above all caring - always ready to go that extra mile.
I have many interests outside of work including walking, I am a keen birdwatcher usually to be found out with my Husband and friends in some very unusual places. I am also a listening volunteer at the Southend branch of Samaritans - a role which I enjoy very much.
Jennifer Boyce - Care Manager
Hi, I am Jennifer, the Care Manager at Home Instead Senior Care.
I have worked within the care industry for many years. I started providing care whilst university studying Business Management.
Since finishing university I have stayed within the industry, completing various job roles. I find working in care very rewarding. I feel that alongside the wonderful office team and the CAREGivers here we are able to really make a difference in our clients lives. I am eager to learn and improve my skillset, every day is a school day!
My favourite part of working in care is listening to our clients tellling me stories of their lives, I find this the most interesting of experiences! I am looking forward to working with Niven in his journey with a second to none service.
Oh, I am a petrol head too! My car photos are everywhere and you may often find me wandering car shows in the summer. I love to talk to our clients about the cars they have owned and I am driven by the smiles of the people I work with, whether they are CAREGivers, Clients or Clients families.
Shalinee Ramalingum - Office Manager
Hi, I’m Shalinee Ramalingum and the newest member of the team joining as the Office Manager. Prior to joining Home Instead Senior Care I worked in the investment banking industry for 16 years in the compliance department.
After the birth of my two children I felt like I was missing out on precious family time and wanted to combine motherhood with work. I was ready to be a part of something positive and feel proud when going to work.
Although I have never worked in the care industry, both my parents were nurses working in the NHS and some of my extended family are carers. I have seen first hand how important it is to have good care in the community and I want to be a part of making that difference.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
Jane Shipley - Care Coordinator
Hi My name is Jane Shipley and I have just joined the Home Instead team as care coordinator. I am mum of 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl.
I have worked in the care industry for over 7 years, and during this time I have been in various roles.I began my care career as a carer to make a difference to the lives of the local people, I then proceeded to working in the office dealing with the other side of things. Including scheduling care calls and insuring clients receive a top service.
Since joining the Home Instead Southend team I have found them to be a friendly and committed team. Our goal as a team is to provide a tailored made service to all our clients to ensure their needs are meet to the full.
I myself enjoy traveling to new places and learning the history of the places I have had the pleasure to visit. Spending time with my family and friends, going to the theatre to watch a good show. I enjoy decorating, and get much pleasure out of changing/updating the rooms in my house.

Rebecca Ruler - Recruitment and Retention
Hi, I'm Becky, 32 and I have been working with Home Instead Senior Care for over a year .
I really enjoy being a CAREGiver and love the ethic and standard that the company work to; I can take pride in my work and love nothing more than to see my clients smile.
My previous jobs have included customer service, telecommunications and more recently working with children, but I wanted a career in which I felt fulfilled.

As a mother of two boys I have learned patience and understanding (lots of it) and I am now looking forward to expanding my role within the company.
The team at Home Instead were so welcoming and I have felt right at home. My clients mean the world to me and whether I’m taking them out shopping, making dinner or just chatting over a cup of tea you can be sure we’ll be laughing all the way.
Niven Ramalingum - Franchise Owner
Hello I am Niven, owner of Home Instead Senior Care in Southend-On-Sea.
As a child I was fascinated by cars, I worked in the motor industry for 18 years, working my way from the workshop floor to being part of the management team. Although I enjoyed working with cars, I want to make a difference to people lives, and be proud to be part of that difference.
After the birth of my daughter, my wife and I decided to leave London and move to Essex and we have not looked back since! We wanted to start a family business and looked at several different opportunities. Our ageing population is growing and spending longer periods of time at home, we felt that we could improve the quality of home care by providing a companion based service.
I am inspired by my family. My mum works in a residential environment supporting clients with varying needs and my father and aunt cared for my grandparents for many years with many different challenges. They have all shown me how important it is to care for our elders and how much they still have to offer us all.
I love spending time with my family, fixing things and playing five-a-side football with friends.
The last year has been thoroughly enjoyable and I have met a number of fantastic people in the Southend-On-Sea area and together we are really starting to make a difference.
I am writing on behalf of my myself and my parents to express our gratitude for the quality of care shown to my parents. Prior to employing 'home instead' my parents had never received any external care services and my mother was extremely apprehensive. Due to my parents' accelerating care needs, and the fact that their care had become all consuming of my time, my father was delighted when he saw your advertisement in his magazine for the visually impaired. My mother could not appreciate her own frailty, and still cannot, but you handled the initial introductions between your carers and my parents in a thoroughly professional way. Together with my parents I made a list of the things which I do daily thus enabling them to live 'independently'. It was this list which the carers were then able to use as their guidance. It was also this list that my father had to share repeatedly when my mother asked 'What are the carers going to do? We don't need anyone to help us because we do it all ourselves.' Having booked Ann and Emma I was able to embark on a fortnight's holiday with my family. Of course I was still concerned but I was also reassured that you were in the immediate vicinity if there was an 'emergency'. When we returned it was obvious to us that my parents had been well cared for.Even my mother was more aware when the care team were coming and also why they were coming too. The fact that we were able to have our holiday as a family was very appreciated by us all.Nicola H
