The group meets every Thursday in Paignton Library (1pm-3pm) and has come about through the shared vision of local volunteers and our local community library who have facilitated local stroke survivors in forming an award winning computer group. Success has come in the form of increased self-esteem, bring confidence and hope through peer support.
The aim of the group is to help stroke survivors learn new skills or to regain those lost, by using the computer whilst at the same time providing the benefits of regaining arm mobility, improved co-ordination and greater self-esteem. What it has done has been extraordinary. It has brought about a new confidence, a sense of comradeship through helping each other. Most of all is that the members feel they have something to offer and a place in their community. No experience is necessary and both experts and beginners are welcome.
Home Instead arranged for a lady to visit my mother for 1 hour on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. This is first to relieve my mother's partner (& carer) so that he can do some jobs and have some time to himself and secondly to provide female company just for a chat. The lady who visits is lovely, my mother really looks forward to seeing her and enjoys her company. Home Instead did really well to provide just the right person, based on questions asked at the outset.Stephen T - Son of Client
