Royal treatment for Care Pro Ed
A Care Professional from Home Instead South East Northumberland, Ed Stoker, recently enjoyed a royal day out to Buckingham Palace. He received the invitation after being named our ‘Care Professional of the Year’ for 2019, recognised for his hard work and dedication in his role caring for older people across his local community.
After receiving the national award back in 2019, Ed was invited to a garden party at the palace by the Home Care Association, the national body for home care providers. They were so impressed by his commitment in supporting clients, helping them enjoy their later years in the comfort of their own homes.
Ed was delighted to meet various royals such as The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, finally visiting the palace after several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He joined Home Instead South East Northumberland in 2017, and has been a devoted Care Professional ever since. He was even recognised by an inspector from the Care Quality Commission in the company’s review, who remarked to company director Guy Kirk, “We need more Eddies!”
Ed’s dedication to care has seen him go above and beyond for his clients, including spending his first Christmas on the job supporting two clients, helping one of them spend the day with his family, and preparing the other a Christmas dinner and providing much-needed company.
Ed commented: “It was such a wonderful day; one I was so delighted to be invited to. To be recognised for my role is so amazing. I love caring for my clients each day, and to me, it isn’t even work – it is like visiting and supporting friends. And to do it for such a brilliant company who are frequently recognising the efforts of their Care Professionals makes me feel valued.”
Guy Kirk, owner of Home Instead South East Northumberland comments: “We were so glad to see Ed treated like royalty! He is immensely devoted to his work and to supporting his clients, so he deserves to be treated and recognised for his dedication. A huge thanks to the Home Care Association for organising this wonderful trip for Ed!”
