Free Family Dementia Training Workshops
Dementia affects over 850,000 people in the UK and the figure is growing. This is partly because people are living longer and as more people become aware of dementia and willing to discuss it, more are seeking medical help leading to improved rates of diagnosis.
These statistics represent the thousands of families with loved ones who require special care and support to live a fulfilled life with dementia.
Knowing how to respond to the behaviours and situations caused by dementia is unfamiliar to many. How do you learn about the different ways to successfully care and support a loved one in a dignified and confident way?
Through our years of providing care to many of our clients with dementia, we have a lot of answers to these questions. We are here to help.
We know that caring for a loved one with dementia can feel stressful and challenging for the family as well as for the person living with the condition. To help you, we offer to share the key learning from our CAREGiver City & Guilds Accredited Dementia Training with family members to make this difficult time an easier journey for everyone.
Our free family dementia training workshops cover topics including:
· Understanding the different types of dementia, their causes, symptoms and impact on behaviour
· Capturing Life’s Journey – the benefits of recording information about the life of the person and how this can be used to enhance care
· Help with communication and understanding behaviours and needs
· Engaging in activities
· Supporting nutrition and hydration.
· Planning ahead
· Other health concerns
· Stress and caring for the family carer
The workshops are run at various community venues in Norwich and our training suite in Diamond House. Places are limited to provide an informal and relaxed environment.
