Home Instead Senior Care National Conference 2017

Wow! Another year has gone by and another hugely successful conference. We’ve all returned to the office buzzing with ideas, motivation and excitement over what we can achieve over the next year!

We arrived bright and early on Saturday morning full of anticipation of what was to come. This was intensified by having the new sparkly Home Instead Conference App on our phones so we could check the agendas, see who was attending and read up about the guest speakers. What a stupendously awesome feeling to have all those owners and key players together in one room and what a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded people from all over the country, bounce ideas off one another and join together to celebrate the success of Home Instead Senior Care.

The theme ‘We Are’ resonated throughout the day in all the speeches and talks – with Key player talks focussing on recruitment and retention and how we can all be a better person than we already are and the pledge wall where each and every one of us pledged what we are going to achieve.

Highlights for me included the Keynote speakers, Neil Eastwood who gave us some brilliant tips on retaining the amazing CAREGivers that we already have and Michael Finnigan who had us all in stitches with his inspiring stories about positivity and always believing that we can be a better person and achieve the impossible. The We Are Caring section, hosted by the beautiful Sarah-Jane Mee from Sky News, featured some of the nominees of the prestigious CAREGiver of the Year award alongside some of our wonderful clients; Audrey, David and Doug who were most definitely the stars of the show!

As the day drew to a close, conversations turned to what we were all wearing for the Gala Dinner. What a better way to celebrate the successes of all the franchises! The list of franchise offices receiving awards, as long as ever and testament to the hard work and dedication of all involved. It’s so inspiring to celebrate with everyone and have a renewed motivation to return to our office with the desire to be on that stage next year, proudly shaking hands with Martin and receiving our own award.

Without doubt, the best part of conference is the CAREGiver of the Year award. This always brings tears to my eyes and gives me goose bumps all over. This year the proud recipient was Lynne Higgins from the Dudley and Sandwell South office. Being a CAREGiver comes naturally to Lynne and this came across in all the videos. I especially loved the story about how she had bought one of her clients a cuddly toy dog when her own beloved pet had passed away. Lynne went on to say that when her client passed away, she was cremated with the cuddly toy! Congratulations Lynne on your awe-inspiring achievement!

Congratulations also to all at National Office for another brilliant weekend – can’t wait for next year now!
