Lisa Pickford - Care Manager

I have worked in the care industry for about 14 years, in different care homes and for several domiciliary care companies. I was encouraged from the start of my career to undertake my degrees and better myself as much as possible. I have worked for both good and not so good care companies and have learnt from the work ethics of those companies. I have always loved working in care and improving people’s lives.

During my career I have cared for my mother and this has given me a personal care perspective and changed my outlook on the care industry. Due to this I have always strived to achieve the ‘Mum Test’ in all of my work. I chose to work for Home Instead as their work ethics match mine and I’m excited to contribute to the company’s way of care.

I am married to Rob and have three wonderful children, we live in Tiverton. In our spare time we enjoy going on mini breaks away and visiting beaches. I love going shopping and meeting new people to find out all about their lives and adventures.

Before I joined the Home Instead family I spent 15 years working in advertising. However, I realised that I wanted to do something that would make a difference to the community in which I have grown up and lived most of my life, so after much searching for the right opportunity I found Home Instead and set up the North Devon & Exmoor office. This enables me to continue to live in a place I love while delivering an excellent quality service that helps members of the community maintain their quality of life, and stay independent and living in their own homes for longer.

Although I am lucky enough to have spent most of my career so far at local advertising agency Bray Leino, working on some brilliant brands and campaigns, I could rarely see how my input was directly helping to deliver a benefit. I have now taken a lot of the experience of managing multiple projects and people in a fast moving environment, while maintaining strict attention to detail, into my new role, to ensure that the quality of our service is to the highest possible standard, and I can directly see the results that the Home Instead service can have on people’s lives.

I am married to Chantelle, who is a primary school teacher, and we live in South Molton. In our spare time we like to go walking on Exmoor and local beaches, and I can often be found on a cricket field in the summer, or watching rugby during the winter, as well as playing skittles in the South Molton league.
