Top Ten 2019 moments
2019 has been quite a year at Home Instead! There have been some exciting milestones such as reaching 200 offices in the network and launching our very first TV advert. But ultimately it comes down to supporting our clients to live independently in their own homes and we’re proud that our offices UK wide have delivered more than seven million hours of relationship led care this year alone!
Here’s our Top Ten moments of 2019:
1. Royal Recognition for Home Instead
Our specialist end of life training received a Princess Royal Training Award and was recognised by HRH Princess Anne. The accolade is for businesses which demonstrate outstanding training and skills development programmes and Home Instead was one of just 44 organisations in the UK (and the only home care company!) to receive the award.
2. Our CAREGiver of the Year was crowned
The coveted award was presented to Edward Stoker this year, who works for our South East Northumberland office, owned by Guy and Carole Kirk. At our annual conference, Edward received a standing ovation from the crowd for his extraordinary ability to connect with his clients and go above and beyond in his duties.
3. Superhero CAREGiver Buki saves a client’s life
When 92-year-old Eunice was choking on a piece of toast, CAREGiver Buki from Home Instead Camden
quickly stepped in to perform life-saving manoeuvres. Her quick thinking was praised by both Eunice and Eunice’s family who said: “She did an excellent job keeping mum calm. We are very grateful to her.”
4. Hitting 60 Outstanding ratings
Across the Home Instead network of English offices (which are rated by the Care Quality Commission) we were proud reach our 60th Outstanding, which is the highest possible rating. It was also fantastic to see three of our Scottish offices receive an Excellent rating from the Care Inspectorate and many of our offices in Wales and Northern Ireland exceeded the requirements of their regulators.
5. Home Instead hit TV screens
Our beloved Stanley and Christine featured in our very first TV advert to hit screens this year. The campaign showed both the client side of Stanley looking for extra help around the house and showcased what CAREGiver Christine enjoyed about her role. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch the full story here.
6. Quadruple award win for Home Instead
We took away an award for ‘Specialist Care’ in the Home Care Awards and a double in the Leaders in Care Awards where we scooped ‘Home Care Provider of the Year’ and our CEO Martin Jones was crowned ‘Executive of the Year’. On top of this, we were named as winner in ‘Best Franchise Management’ at the Best Franchise Awards. Quite a year!
7. Celebrating our 200th office
The summer saw Dorchester become our 200th office in the network led by Romesh Dharmasingham. We welcomed a number of offices and special guests to celebrate the milestone at the iconic Chester Cathedral.
8. CAREGiver featured in Government recruitment campaign
Home Instead pledged its support to the Department of Health and Social Care’s campaign to recruit more people in the care industry. Newcastle CAREGiver Elizabeth featured in a national advertising campaign with client Margaret and was also invited to the House of Commons to meet with Care Minister Caroline Dinenage, telling her what she loves about her role.
9. Top Home Care Group award
We were proud to be placed in the prestigious Top 20 Home Care Groups nationally. What makes us even prouder is the fact that this result is based directly on reviews on homecare.co.uk from our clients, their family members and relatives.
10. Cyril’s dream came true
And finally…. just one of many stand out client stories was helping 100-year-old Cyril fulfil his lifelong dream of feeding the elephants. CAREGiver Kirsty Lye of Home Instead Ipswich took Cyril on the trip on his birthday and the special moment was even captured in Pick Me Up magazine.
