Tony follows parents’ footsteps into the care sector
New Home Instead owner Tony O'Flaherty and elderly client

Demand for care of the elderly in the UK is rapidly increasing in particular care in their own homes. To meet this demand, family man and South London resident Tony O’Flaherty, has followed in his parents’ footsteps and opened a business specialising in caring for the elderly in the London Borough of Wandsworth and is looking to create 40 jobs in the area.

The new office of national award winning at-home care company, Home Instead will be providing care services across Battersea, Clapham, Balham and the surrounding areas.

Previously working in the IT & communications industry, Tony decided he wanted to run his own business.

Both of Tony’s parents and his uncle own and run care homes, and he realised that this was an area where he could help others too.  He quickly looked for opportunities, finally settling with Home Instead as their ethos perfectly matched his.

Commenting, Tony said “I think subconsciously I knew I would eventually work within the care sector as I have been in close contact with the industry and am familiar with how quality care should be delivered.  I have seen how my parents’ work has had such a positive effect on people’s lives. The whole ethos of Home Instead stood out to me, with their main focus being quality of service that suits each individual’s needs.”

Tony wants to talk to other local people who have compassionate and caring natures and are interested in working with elderly people. Candidates don’t need to have experience in the care sector as they will receive excellent training, but they may well have experience looking after a relative or friend.

Home Instead services are tailored to the needs of each at-home client. They include personal care, home help and companionship.

Keep an eye out for Tony driving around in his classic 1962 Rover which he will be using to visit his clients.
