Thirsk residents receive a meal with a side of music

The Norby Lunch Club in Thirsk was visited by a team of carers from Home Instead Senior Care recently, where local residents enjoyed a hot meal with a side of music.

The lunch club is run in conjunction with the Thirsk and Sowerby Community Care Association, and provides an opportunity for local older residents to enjoy a hot nutritious meal. The scheme is run by a team of fantastic volunteers who feed between 20 - 30 people every Monday from 11am – 2.30pm.

The team from Home Instead were keen to join in with this weekly event and hosted a fun music quiz for attendees to participate in after their lunch.

Home Instead owner Sheena Van Parys commented: “We played all the old classics, including Doris Day, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and awarded prizes to the teams who managed to name the most correct artists. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and said it made a great change from the usual bingo. Our team really enjoyed taking part in this event too, as it is great to get out into the community and to get involved in the Norby Lunch Club which is such an important social activity for older people in the area”.
