It was a ‘full house’ for the elderly residents of Raglan Court in St Helens on Valentine’s Day thanks to local at-home care company Home Instead who organised a fun packed afternoon of bingo to raise funds for their chosen charity, the Alzheimer’s Society.
More than forty people attended the romantically themed event where heart shaped marshmallows, Valentine’s cup cakes and chocolates were the order of the day.
A successful raffle and auction of a silk dressing gown from Hong Kong topped up the final total donated to the charity to £177, which was gratefully received by Mandy Gough representing Cheshire and St Helens Alzheimer’s Society.
Kevin Warburton, owner of Home Instead in St Helens has pledged his support to the Alzheimer’s Society to help them raise awareness and funds through a series of joint events throughout the year. Kevin was delighted with the turn out and said that a great time was had by all and that the event had provided an important opportunity for the Alzheimer’s Society to meet local people and explain about the valuable work that they do. He said:
“I would like to thank Donna Johnson from Raglan Court who helped us organise the event and opened the doors of Raglan Court to welcome both residents and non residents to play bingo together. We are all now looking forward to the next event at Raglan Court which is a St Patricks’ Quiz 17th March 2pm – 4pm and again everyone is welcome to come along and join in the fun.”
