Outstanding all the way for Chichester & Bognor Regis

We are absolutely delighted that Home Instead Chichester and Bognor Regis has just been rated as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This is the 24th office to achieve this accolade.

The inspectors were impressed with what they found and stated: “The service’s mission is to ‘Change the face of ageing in our local communities in West Sussex and to be the provider of choice for older people and their families’.

They added: “It was evident that the organisation strives to achieve this mission statement with their dedication, compassion and ‘selfless’ commitment to provide the best services to people possible.”

Owner and manager Simon McGee was quick to praise his team and said: “This is only possible thanks to our superb team, who are totally dedicated to providing the best care services to our elderly clients and their families.

“We all share the belief that in order to look after someone properly, you really have to get to know the person and their loved ones. I want people to be able to trust Home Instead as an extension of their own family.”

In the report, various professionals including local GP’s, expressed how they valued the service and spoke extremely highly of the CAREGivers and the exemplary leadership.

A nurse praised the outstanding organisational culture of excellence and of going ‘the extra mile’.” Another health care professional said “Their excellent care and good communication with all concerned was invaluable and enabled us all to provide the best care.”

CAREGivers were described as extraordinarily dedicated, motivated and committed. One CAREGiver said, “It’s a lovely family orientated company who pride themselves on person centred care. It’s a pleasure to work here.” When asked what it meant to them to be able to provide a personal service to people, another CAREGiver said, “I really enjoy working for Home Instead as it genuinely cares. It’s just brilliant and if you can make someone smile that’s it.”

A client’s relative told inspectors, “My mother has a habit of changing her mind. Her CAREGivers have the patience of saints. One minute they will be making her scrambled egg on toast, the next, they are required to walk down the road with her on her electric scooter. They are capable resourceful people who work together to get the right outcome.”

Simon and his team have also set up free community events in Bognor Regis and Chichester including ‘Music and Memories’ for people living with dementia, their families and also for the local community helping to minimise social isolation and loneliness. Inspectors spoke with people who were enjoying the event. One person was observed to be singing enthusiastically and thoroughly enjoying the music. They said “I love it, absolutely wonderful, everybody’s wonderful.”

Commenting on the glowing report, Home Instead managing director, Martin Jones said, “I must continue the wonderful praise for Simon and his team and how they are changing the face of ageing in Chichester & Bognor Regis.

“What is clear to me is that they are going the extra mile, not only in supporting their clients and CAREGivers, but with their innovative work helping older people out in the community. They really do deserve to be described as truly outstanding.”
