Marie Brain lives up to her name

Marie Brain, a caregiver for the Newcastle-Under-Lyme office of Home Instead Senior Care, has lived up to her name by completing a Foundation Degree in Complementary Therapy.

Marie has worked for the at-home care company since completing her degree earlier this year and is pleased that her recent course has equipped her with a range of new skills. “I started my family relatively early on in life and therefore completing a degree was a goal of mine that I had postponed. I really enjoyed learning so many new things during my degree as it included training in aromatherapy, reflexology, anatomy and biochemistry, to name just a few!”

Home Instead owners Paul and Sandra Edden commented: “We are really thrilled for Marie as completing her degree shows real dedication and hard work. We encourage all of our team to explore their passions, and pride ourselves on employing well-rounded people with a diverse range of skills. We believe this can only enhance the highly professional care we provide to our clients.”

Although Marie does not directly use the skills gained from her degree, she is really enjoying her role with Home Instead and is thrilled that she has found a job that allows her to help others. Marie comments: “Home Instead provides a very high-standard of care and there is such an emphasis on helping our clients that it is a very rewarding job. None of my clients have asked me for any complementary therapies yet, although if they ever do, I am pleased to say that I am now 100% qualified!”
