Lynda is named Dementia Carer of the Year
Home Instead Ipswich CAREgiver Lynda Oates picking up her Dementia Carer of the Year Award

Lynda Oates, local caregiver for at-home care company Home Instead, picked up the Dementia Carer of the Year Award at the Great East of England Care Awards 2011, held at the Imperial War Museum and hosted by Andrew Castle.

In receiving the East of England Dementia Carer award, Lynda has secured her place at the national finals which are being held at London’s Royal Courts of Justice in May 2012.

The care awards celebrate excellence across the social care sector and pay tribute to individuals who have excelled in their work. The prestigious Dementia Carer award is presented to an individual who can demonstrate the specific skills needed to manage and deliver services sensitive to the needs of older people with dementia, by delivering a personal and attentive service.

Lynda was nominated for the award by her boss, Chris Lye, who owns and runs the Ipswich office of Home Instead.

Commenting on Lynda, Chris said, “Lynda could not be any more deserving of this award. Having been a carer in her own life for her son who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 10, Lynda is truly passionate about helping others and is dedicated to providing support for those in need.”

Chris continued: “As well as completing the dementia training we provide at Home Instead in conjunction with Alzheimer’s Society, Lynda eagerly searched out more information to build her own knowledge and expertise on the subject.  We always receive such fantastic feedback about Lynda’s work as she provides an outstanding level of care and has a real passion for helping people living with dementia. And she doesn’t just focus solely on her client: Lynda is also committed to helping her client’s families to adjust to their loved-one’s condition and offer support and advice on their care.”
