Home Instead reaches 18th CQC Outstanding milestone
Home Instead South Devon office team holding their CQC Outstanding rating

We are delighted to announce that our South Devon office, based in Paignton, has been awarded an Outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – making this an exceptional 18th Outstanding for the Home Instead brand.

Their achievement is even more impressive when you consider that only two per cent of home care providers inspected have been awarded the coveted ‘Outstanding’ rating.

The South Devon office was only set up two years ago by husband and wife team, Peter and Mercedes Hughes, who received high praise in their report from inspectors who praised the ‘strong emphasis on providing care with compassion, respect and dignity.'

Speaking about this 18th Outstanding rating, Managing Director of Home Instead, Martin Jones said, “The genuinely caring approach taken by the team in South Devon shines through in their inspection report. It is clear that their team of wonderful CAREGivers go above and beyond on a daily basis to improve their clients’ lives; providing them with highly personalised care."

The inspectors also praised Peter and Mercedes for the specialist dementia training provided to their CAREGivers and the company’s work in the community to promote a better understanding of dementia.

As always, there are some lovely comments contained within the report. We particularly liked one made by a client who, speaking about their CAREGivers, said, “They are friends. They are human. They are lovely.”

Martin added: “I am proud that Home Instead has been awarded more Outstanding ratings than any other care company – well done to Peter, Mercedes and all the team in South Devon for adding the 18th.”
