Home Instead Hinckley is rated as Outstanding by CQC!
Home Instead Hinckley has earned an Outstanding rating for its services caring for clients in their own homes.
Run by Craig Mayes and team, the service provides companionship and personal care to older people with a range of needs, some of whom are living with dementia.
The team is now among just 3% of the home care providers which have been rating as Outstanding by the independent regulator of health and social care in England, the Care Quality Commission.
Commenting on the report, Craig said: “The rating and feedback from the Care Quality Commission reflects the high levels of professionalism and care we provide. Our CAREGivers are highly motivated - often going above and beyond to support people in their own homes and many share the same hobbies and interests as the clients they are matched with.”
The report acknowledged that ‘people’s care plans focused on outcomes rather than tasks’ and cited numerous examples of instances where this approach improved the quality of people’s lives.
One success story in the report was when a CAREGiver was matched with a Hinckley elderly person through their shared love of gardening. They commented, “My client loves her gardening and I do too, we have visited local garden centres and put solar lights in her garden as well as new planting. My client is so happy with that, she dictates how she wants me to plant and I do it. It’s a real success as I couldn’t get her to go out at all at first.”
As part of the inspection, relatives of the clients receiving care were asked to provide their views and many commented on the kindness and compassion shown by the CAREGivers. Relatives also have the opportunity to access the Home Instead mobile 'app' used by CAREGivers so they can remain informed about the care their loved ones receive. In the report, relatives commented on how reassuring this was, with one relative accessing the app all the way from Australia.
Craig continued, “I’m delighted that our passionate approach for individualised care has been recognised with this Outstanding rating. Our team delivers care based on trust and companionship - we ensure that people continue to feel in control and enable them to remain independent within their own homes. Now we have proof that our approach is changing the face of ageing.”
The CQC report also highlighted some of the social caring community initiatives delivered by Home Instead Hinckley such as a ‘Stay Nourished’ campaign where the team delivered fresh fruit and veg hampers to local retirement villages and to the people they supported. They also printed a ‘What’s on Where’ guide for the local area detailing coffee mornings, hobby groups, lunch clubs and other activities to encourage elderly people to remain engaged with the local Hinckley, Burbage and Nuneaton communities
