Kettering resident, Dorothy Goss celebrated her 102nd birthday last week surrounded by family, friends and her Home Instead caregiver and companion Irina Bellamy.
Home Instead has been providing Dorothy with care for the past year and her favourite caregiver Irina took Dorothy a white heather plant as a gift to celebrate this landmark celebration as she knows it is one of Dorothy’s favourites.
When asked the secret of her long life Dorothy replied: “Spending time with my family and eating pear drops.”
Dorothy began work in the Post Office in Guilsborough at the age of 16 after leaving school. She later transferred to Winslow where she met Edwin. The couple were married in 1939 and lived happily together for 49 years.
Dorothy has 2 sons, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and says that she loves spending time with her family on a regular basis as this keeps her young.
In her spare time, Dorothy enjoys having regular lie-ins and going clothes shopping. She also goes to Church on a Sunday morning and still attends a Mother’s Union group when she can.
