Local schoolboy, Robert Maundrill (aged 8), delighted residents at the Waverley Day Centre in Kenilworth recently when he serenaded them with his cello.

Robert is the son of Philip Maundrill who recently set up the Stratford-based care company Home Instead and it was through Philip’s contact with day centre manager, Anne Cross, that the concert came about.

The musical youngster is a pupil at The Croft School in Stratford upon Avon.

He has recently passed his Grade 2 music exam for the cello and is now working towards Grade 3. Robert’s recital included pieces by Mozart and Bach which went down a treat with the residents, all the more so as the music was enjoyed alongside a tasty selection of cakes which had been baked by Philip’s wife, Clare and Home Instead’s care manager, Lucy Jackson.

Anne Cross, the manager of the Day Centre was delighted with the support provided by Home Instead. Commenting she said, “It was lovely of Phil to bring Robert along for the concert. Our clients really enjoyed the music and, of course, the cakes went down a treat so a big thank you to Clare and Lucy for their culinary efforts.”
